On Friday 22nd May 2026, Liverpool songwriter and vocalist Jessica Dives presents a very special performance marking the launch of her new creative project, The Wind Phone — a public artwork and community space inspired by the global Wind Phone movement.
This unique event brings together music, reflection and shared experience, offering audiences the first chance to hear the project’s story, its accompanying song, and Jessica’s vision for its place in the city.
About The Wind Phone
Jessica’s Wind Phone is a hand?built installation designed as a quiet, private place where people can “call” loved ones who have died — speaking into the silence and sending their words out on the wind.
The idea originates from a phone booth in ?tsuchi, Japan, created after the 2011 tsunami. Jessica was deeply moved by the concept and has spent the past year developing a Liverpool version:
- built around a restored vintage telephone chair
- finished in collaboration with a local artist
- intended for a permanent outdoor home in a sheltered, accessible public space
- supported by a community fundraiser to cover materials, artist time, launch costs and long?term upkeep
Her aim is simple and generous:
“If you have need for the Wind Phone, then the Wind Phone is for you.”
The song: The Wind Phone
Alongside the installation, Jessica has written a new song of the same name — a moving, atmospheric piece exploring memory, longing and the conversations we wish we could still have.
Early live performances have resonated strongly with audiences, and this launch show marks the first time the project and the song are presented together.
The launch show: Words on the Wind
The Wind Phone launch event brings together a carefully curated lineup of Liverpool artists whose songwriting, storytelling and emotional depth complement the themes at the heart of the project.
- Jessica Dives – Headlining the night, Jessica will perform a full set including the first public presentation of The Wind Phone song, alongside new material and audience favourites. Her voice and presence form the emotional centre of the evening.
- Katie Nicholas – A captivating performer known for her intricate guitar work and poetic lyricism. Katie’s songs carry a quiet intensity that fits beautifully with the reflective nature of the event.
- Danny Bradley – An award?winning songwriter whose warm vocals and blues?infused acoustic style bring soul and honesty to the stage. Danny’s performances are rich with character and heart.
- Simon Dale – A thoughtful and expressive artist whose melodic writing and gentle delivery add a contemplative layer to the night. His work often explores memory and connection, making him a natural fit for this launch.
Together, the four artists shape an evening built around storytelling, remembrance and shared experience — a communal space to honour the conversations we wish we could still have, and to celebrate the arrival of Liverpool’s own Wind Phone.
