Liverpool singer-songwriter Grace Elizabeth Harvey is set to mark the release of her forthcoming EP Songs of Devotion with a headline launch show at Rough Trade Liverpool on 15th October 2026.

Presented by Mellowtone, the evening will also feature special guests and promises an intimate setting for audiences to experience the new material live. Support is from Jed Timms.

Based in Liverpool and originally from the Wirral, Harvey has developed a distinctive musical voice shaped by a diverse creative background. After teaching herself guitar, she fell in love with the cello, later specialising in Baroque music through the Junior Royal Northern College of Music before studying English Literature and Philosophy at Durham University. Those musical and literary influences continue to inform her songwriting today.

Songs of Devotion

Set for release on 16th October, Songs of Devotion explores what Harvey describes as the tangles of language and love. The collection was shaped by experiences gathered during train journeys, visits to second-hand bookshops and nights spent on borrowed sofas, resulting in songs filled with vivid imagery and intricate harmonies.

Harvey’s approach to songwriting is rooted in questioning and exploration.

“I am always addressing a question when I write, the songs I write in a year will be the product of the same questioning that is circling around, brought on by a combination of lived experience and what I have read/written/am discovering about myself and the world,” she explains.

“For my last EP, it was faith (religious and non religious, I’m not a spiritual person), for this EP it is language and miscommunication. The songs are an effort to either communicate the feeling of this tension, pull apart the question, or answer it. I see them as collections of songs – that is very important.”

Songs Of Devotion was recorded live at producer Gus White’s residential studio, The Barn, in the Wiltshire countryside, alongside double bassist Sam Crooks and drummer Lloyd Haines. Mixed and mastered to tape, the recordings place Harvey’s delicate, almost spoken-word vocal delivery at their centre, supported by performances shaped as much by the sound of language as by its meaning.

Drawing on her background in Baroque cello, Harvey uses open guitar tunings and often treats the instrument as a second melodic voice within her songs. Counter-melodies and harmonic movement become as expressive as the lyrics themselves, creating a sound that combines folk traditions with a spirit of experimentation.

EP release

The forthcoming release follows a remarkable couple of years for the emerging artist. Since the release of her debut EP Other Faith, she has toured extensively across the UK, sharing stages with Josienne Clarke, Villagers, James Yorkston, Chris Brain, Chloe Foy and Florist. She also won the Young Songwriter Competition and was recently awarded PPL’s Momentum Accelerator Fund.

Praised by BBC Introducing, Still Listening, Narc, Fatea and Folking, Harvey has built a reputation as a captivating live performer and one of the most exciting emerging voices on the UK folk and contemporary acoustic scene.

With Songs Of Devotion arriving on 16th October digitally and on 10-inch vinyl, and the new single Devotion already available, the Rough Trade launch show promises to be a fitting celebration of an artist continuing to grow in confidence and acclaim.
