Single – Sandcastles & Satellites

Sandcastles and Satellites is new single from native Liverpudlian and canal boat dweller David Nixon.

The gentle vinyl crackle primes the listener for the somewhat wistful ukulele chords which opens up into a lush and beautifully orchestrated backdrop for Nixon’s tale of love sustaining through a long term relationship. Marc’s silky vocals, a little reminiscent of Paul Heaton, guide you effortlessly through the track his sweet harmonies complimenting the song perfectly, a brushed snare and shaker driving the rhythm along nicely.

The story unfolds of a long relationship surviving the various trials and tribulation of life “Where any doubts dissolve to nought” and comparing their relationship to satellites in space having built upon their strong foundation, “Gravity that we’ve escaped, into new orbit, new lives shaped” and keeping life going on as it should, “Satellites that circle, bring the tides”.

The lyrics and production feels wonderfully balanced inviting the listener into Nixon’s personal universe like an old friend. All in all a charming effort and one well worth checking out!
