Operation Lightfoot is a music project which started out in 2013 and seems to go from strength to strength. They have gathered a regular group of guest musicians to which they add special guests to perform collaborations.

This latest collaboration single is called Trans-Siberian possibly referring to the epic railway journey. It features Dorothy Bird a Berlin/Liverpool based musician who first worked with Operation Lightfoot in 2017.

  • The music and lyrics are by Luke Moore and Julia Fiebelkorn (as Dorothy Bird )
  • Vocals / Synthesizers: Dorothy Bird
  • Electric piano/ guitar/ bass guitar: Luke Moore
  • Electric guitar/ percussion/ programming: Jon Lawton
  • Violin: Lara Simpson

The song opens with some electric piano and a drum beat, but this soon joined by Dorothy’s vocals. The song takes on a ethereal feel but the subject matter… well that’s a more loves journey – are they? aren’t they? will they? won’t they? – with the chorus asking the questions.

The instrumentation and vocals blend so well you would think they work together all the time and not just on the occasional collaboration.

The track is reminds me of early songs from Dido. Listening to this and some others from the project you can appreciate the talent gathered here.

I will be watching the website for further projects.

The single is available from cdbaby, Amazon etc. The single will be released on Friday the 16th of August.
