Liverpool Acoustic seeks new Deputy Editor

Liverpool Acoustic is seeking a new Deputy Editor to support the ongoing development of the website.

Liverpool Acoustic publishes a selection of news items, previews of live events, and reviews of gigs and music releases. Launched in 2008 to support the local acoustic music scene in Liverpool and the surrounding area, the website has continued to grow over time.

Every week we get told about lots of exciting gigs, events and music releases but don’t currently have the resources to publish as many of these as we’d like. This is where the new role of Deputy Editor comes in.

Last year we expanded our review team after a successful appeal for new members, and now we’re looking for someone to help publish the reviews, write new news items, write their own reviews, and bring some new ideas to the table.

Benefits

Being Liverpool Acoustic Deputy Editor has the following money-can’t-buy (!) benefits.

  • your name and profile on the ‘About’ page
  • your contributions published on the Liverpool Acoustic website for all the world to see (hello, World!) and emailed to the Liverpool Acoustic news and reviews mailing list
  • your contributions posted to the Liverpool Acoustic facebook page and twitter account
  • an author profile on the Liverpool Acoustic website with links to your website, facebook and twitter account
  • free entry to many ticketed events, gigs and concerts
  • advance copies of new releases
  • a warm, fuzzy feeling inside knowing that you’ve done your bit to help support the local music scene
  • an opportunity to shape the future direction of the website
  • relevant, real-world editing and journalistic experience

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who

  • has a passion for music and a flair for writing
  • can write news items, features, interviews and opinion pieces
  • has a good eye for grammar and punctuation and can follow a ‘house style’
  • can work to deadlines
  • is comfortable using technology (email, word processors, digital cameras, etc)
  • knows the difference between subjective and objective, and can balance the two
  • has WordPress experience (welcome but not essential)
  • has editorial experience (welcome but not essential)

Apply

If you fancy having a go and think you meet the requirements then get in touch using the Contact form, entitling the message ‘Liverpool Acoustic Deputy Editor enquiry’ stating why you’d like the job and what you feel you could bring to the role. If you’ve been published before then include links to some of your work.

Applications close on Tuesday 4th April 2017.
