Support acts needed for Jon Gomm UK tour this autumn

Those of you who are signed up to the Liverpool Acoustic events mailing list will already know that guitar wizard and YouTube sensation Jon Gomm is touring the UK this autumn, and will be coming to Liverpool’s LEAF on Bold St on Thursday 12th September 2013. Tickets for the Liverpool gig are already available here.

After 2 years touring all over the planet, Jon Gomm is hitting the road on home soil with his first major solo UK tour this Autumn, playing the YouTube hits and premiering songs from his forthcoming album ‘Secrets Nobody Keeps’.

And if you are a band or solo artist, you can apply to play the opening set for one of the gigs!

Jon well remembers the pain of applying for support slots in his hometown, only to find it was already taken by a touring support artist, often on the same label or agency roster as the headliners. Where possible, Jon wants to give the chance to local musicians.

So, if you are a band or solo artist, and you are based within 30 miles of this venue, you can apply to play the opening set of this gig!

Here’s what to do

1. Go to the facebook event page for the one gig nearest to you. Remember, we’re looking to support local music and ask that those applying live within a 30 mile radius.

2. Post a direct link to video or audio of your music (e.g. Youtube, Soundcloud, or Bandcamp) as a post on this event page.
3. Jon will personally select a shortlist of bands and musicians.
4. The guests of the facebook event will be invited to vote on who they’d like to see perform.
5. The final choice for support artist will then be made by Jon in conjunction with the promoter (and will be subject to terms and conditions set out by the promoter).

If you’re a fan of a band, please don’t suggest bands you like – contact them and ask them to post up their music. Only bands/artists who have posted their music themselves will be considered!

Don’t worry what style of performer you are – any genre of music can apply. Even nonmusical acts like poets or comedians can apply and will be considered if Jon thinks it’ll work.
