Silent Sleep to headline September’s Liverpool Acoustic Live

Liverpool Acoustic is proud to announce Silent Sleep will be headlining the next Liverpool Acoustic Live event on Friday 25th September at Mathew Street’s intimate View Two Gallery.

The music project of multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Christopher McIntosh, Silent Sleep burst onto the scene when the song On The Steps Of The Bombed Out Church was picked up and championed by BBC Radio Merseyside’s legendary presenter Billy Butler. Support on the night is provided by LIPA student and winner of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2012, Vanessa Murray, and local singer, songwriter and music event organiser Charlie McKeon.

SILENT SLEEP

Here at Sad Kite Records are over the moon to deliver you the gorgeous, brand new single from Liverpool’s Silent Sleep (a.k.a Christopher McIntosh).  It’s called Everything I Own and it will be released digitally on October 12th 2015 and we reckon it will appeal to people who are into bands like Beirut, The National, Sufjan Stevens, Great Lake Swimmers, Arcade Fire or John Grant, but that’s just us.

Everything I Own is a song about being absolutely appalling with money, something I’m sure quite a few of us can relate to. It’s about spending money you haven’t got on things you don’t need. It’s about getting paid on a Saturday night only to have it spent by Sunday morning. It’s about burying your head and pretending your problems don’t exist until, literally, they come knocking on your door. It’s got one of the best choruses we’ve ever heard and it builds and builds to a climax that crushes your heart into a million squiggly little pieces. Its quite breath-taking.

Chris is widely acknowledged amongst Liverpool’s musical elite as one of the city’s finest songsmiths, having spent 8 years perfecting his craft with scuzzy pop act 28 Costumes and then a further 3 years with electro-pop outfit Hallo…I Love You!, whilst living in Berlin.
Silent Sleep’s debut album, Walk Me To The Sea, was released in 2013 and since then Chris has played shows across the globe including two consecutive appearances at The Sundance Film Festival, shows in Melbourne and Sydney, tours of Germany and also shows in Brazil during the World Cup in 2014, a tour organised by Ladytron’s Daniel Hunt and including an all star cast of Dan Croll and Dave McCabe (The Zutons/Ramifications).

Previous singles have garnered much acclaim from the like of The Guardian, God Is In The TV, Louder Than War, The Devil Has The Best Tuna and Get Into This to name a few and radio plays have come from the great folk at Amazing Radio (Simon Raymonde, Bethan Elfyn, Gary Crowley, Gill Mills), Dave Monks (BBC Introducing Merseyside and Steve Lamacq (6 Music).
Over the last two years, the prolific McIntosh has slowly but surely been charming the pants off audiences up and down the country with his rich, melancholic anti-ballads, full of sweeping melodies and packed with raw emotion, sometimes travelling alone and sometimes travelling with a veritable mini-orchestra, but always delivering a memorable and honest performance regardless.

Silent Sleep is one of the finest song-writers around and we’d love you to come on the journey with us and get behind him. Let’s start by linking you up…
