It’s June 2014 and with it comes the 10th Wirral Folk Festival from 5th to 8th (see our news item here), plus Africa Oyé on 21st and 22nd. In between we’ve got a liberal sprinkling of live music opportunities for listeners and performers alike, including our very own Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon on Saturday 7th.
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC OPEN MIC @ SOUND
Liverpool Acoustic Open Mic takes place every Monday evening at Sound Food and Drink on Duke Street. Hosted by Three Minute Hero (Stuart Todd) each night features a mix of booked acts and open mic. If you want to play and would like to book your slot in advance you can do this by posting on the event page at facebook.com/liverpoolacoustic/events
A number of musicians have played for us at Sound Food and Drink and have impressed us so much they’ve been given a slot at our main Liverpool Acoustic Live event, so why not come along one Monday and show us what you can do?
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC AFTERNOON
The Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon returns to the View Two Gallery on Mathew Street on Saturday 7th June for another chilled out afternoon of acoustic music featuring our regular mix of open mic and a couple of booked guests.
Playing for us will be Acoustic Tales and Mojo Storm. There will also be plenty of open mic slots available so why not come along and give us a song or two? Don’t forget we’ve got a grand piano in the performance space so if you’re a singer-songwriter-pianist then you’ll be in your element!

LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC LIVE
Liverpool Acoustic Live welcomes two returning favourites to the View Two Gallery on Mathew Street.
Headlining the night is Austrian singer-songwriter and percussive guitarist Tom Strasser who will be using the night as the UK launch for his new album. Tom last played for us in August 2012 and it’s really good to see him back.
Also returning following his appearance for us back in April 2012 is Leeds-based David Broad who’ll be bringing with him his fantastic blues-inspired acoustic songs.
We’re hoping to add a final act to the lineup and will announce that in due course.
It’s all happening on the evening of Friday 27th June 2014. Tickets will be available in advance for £5 from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic or for £6 on the night. Doors open at 7.45pm with the music starting at 8.15pm.

AND FINALLY…
Remember the phrase from a number of years back that ‘Home taping is killing music’? Well things have moved on since then and according to Ian McNabb it’s ‘Not buying tickets in advance’ that’s killing live music. You can read his article for Louder Than War here. Agree? Disagree? Let us know what you think.
