Continuing the theme of bereavement, local singer-songwriter David Neville King bares his soul with his latest song. We’re The Dreamers is a heartfelt piano ballad written about his late father, who suffered from dementia.
In the opening lines David recounts the advice his father gave to him; “When you’re not being an original, you’re not being free.” The message is simple and direct with both father and son being the dreamers; “Don’t look back, don’t give up, don’t back down, rise above.” The song serves as an effective companion piece to his previous song about his mother called Black And Blue.
There’s a raw grit to David’s music and these two personal statements emotionally exposes the singer like never before. These reflections provide a change of mood from his more humorous material like Ray Lazy Ray and Marko Cigaro.
David recently played a set at Pierre Griffes and will be supporting the band Hegarty at Lock & Quay on Friday 28th April.
