Following on from his promising debut album The Next Life (2020), Mike West has been keeping busy hosting his own podcast Into The Van and has slowly been getting back into live playing following the pandemic.
The acoustic trooper from Rock Ferry dazzles with his latest single release, which introduces us to the comic character of Mothman, the dark tale about a giant moth that pays homage to monsters of B movies like The Fly and The Blob. A live version of the track is already available on his recent Live In London EP, which was released last year on Bandcamp.
The track is an engaging, mid-paced country blues stomper (in B minor), with appealing celtic fiddle lines and a brooding vocal performance that will lure the listener in at their peril. The artist warns to beware of the red eyed monster that hides in the dark and terrorises anybody that crosses him.
