24 Hour Songwriting Challenge to run online next weekend in association with Threshold Festival

24 hour songwriting challenge

The Liverpool Acoustic 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge returns next weekend with a brand new format. Due to the current lockdown restrictions the 2020 challenge is moving entirely online.

The 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge – in association with Threshold Festival – gives songwriters 24 hours to write, record and submit a brand new song inspired by a theme. In 2018 the theme was ‘across the threshold’, last year it was ‘returning’.

The theme for this year will be announced at 12pm on Saturday 11th April when the 24 hour countdown starts and the entry form goes live.

The challenge closes at 12pm on Easter Sunday 12th April, after which time all of the entries will be added to a YouTube playlist for everyone to enjoy. And if all goes to plan (fingers crossed!) people will be given the chance to vote for their favourite song.

Full details, including this year’s rules, will be posted by Friday on the Songwriting Challenge website at challenge.liverpoolacoustic.co.uk

This is the third year of the 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge. In previous years the showcase final has taken place as part of Threshold Festival, with Alison Benson winning in 2018 and Paul Iwan taking first place in 2019.

Paul Iwan performs his Liverpool Acoustic 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge 2019 winning song ‘Returning‘ during the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon at 81 Renshaw.
Alison Benson performs her 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge winning song ‘Here We Stand‘ at the end of the 2018 showcase final at Hobo Kiosk during Threshold Festival.
