John Reed @ Prohibition Recording Studios 13/02/25
13 February, 2025 @ 19:30 – 22:30
Liverpool Acoustic are proud to present John Reed in concert.
John has been immersed in music since his early teens in Blackpool, stage managing gigs at university in Norwich during six vibrant months in 1976 that took us from Progressive Rock to Punk, then back again in the early 1980s.
He took a long hiatus from music to raise a family, and enjoyed a business life that took him across the world absorbing other cultures, music and art.
In 2014 he bought a cittern, now his trademark instrument, and a chance meeting with Manchester producer Ali Karim Esmaail saw him produce his debut album “Moorscape” in 2016.
John was joined by his backing band ‘The Folded Arms’ for a few releases before releasing “Inheritance” in 2019. On the same day, Jo Beth Young released her “Strangers” album and that led indirectly to them forming ‘Nightsong’ with Ali Karim. They released their much-acclaimed album “The Peasants’ Revolt” in December 2020.
John moved to Berwick upon Tweed in January 2022 and set up his Berevic home studio, self-recording his “Elevation” album which was released in October 2023, and is currently working on multiple different music projects. John has run ‘John Reed’s Progressive & Acoustic Compendium’radio show since Spring 2021, on Folk Friday Radio since February this year, which means he also plays a part in supporting other independent musicians.
KLOF (Folk Radio UK) on The Peasants’ Revolt “A remarkable, well-researched, historically illuminating, contemporary resonating and consummately created album that is both musically esoteric and accessible, haunting and atmospheric, it deserves to become a classic of its kind.”
Supporting John will be Rob Clarke & Lindsey Holding.
