Don’t Miss Merry Helloween’s Spooktacular Return This Saturday!

Merry Helloween 2025 landscape

Ghoul-friends and fiends, the time is almost upon us! This coming Saturday 25th October the eerily anticipated return of Merry Helloween will haunt The Citadel, St Helens once more – and it’s shaping up to be a frightfully good night of music, mischief, and monstrous fun.

Expect devilishly good songs, spooktacular musicianship, and singing so good it’ll send a shiver down your spine. Throw into the mix copious amounts of dancing and audience participation, and you’ve got yourself an experience that’ll haunt you all the way through to at least Christmas!

But that’s not all… joining the lineup as the support act are the wickedly witty Bard Company – a poetic folk punk trio known for their sharp satire, lyrical trickery, and ghoulish charm. Expect a set that’s part stand-up, part singalong, and all spellbinding.

As for Merry Hell, they’ve made a name for themselves in recent years as one of the most energetic and entertaining bands on the UK folk festival circuit, with seven (count them!) critically acclaimed albums under their belts (plus a chartbusting compilation double CD!!). The 2025 album, Rising Of The Bold, went even better, hitting the Top 10 of the Official Folk Charts as well as the Mainstream Chart and Transatlantic success via the US Folk Airplay Chart.

Ignited from the embers of much-loved folk-punk combo, The Tansads, in 2010, this eight-piece brings together five of its members from Wigan and the rest from Chester, Ruthin and Dorset. Their music combines the soaring fiddle of Simon Swarbrick with the glorious harmonies of vocalists, Virginia and Andrew Kettle. Backed by guitar and bouzouki (John and Bob Kettle), bass, drums and keyboards (Colin Foster, Andy Jones and Lee Goulding), their energy and passion are complemented by their love of what they do and their desire to share it with as many people as possible.

The great thing about The Citadel (the first place Merry Hell ever played – it couldn’t have been anywhere else!) is that the venue is on two levels: downstairs for those who wish to stand (or dance!), upstairs for reserved seating for those who wish to rattle their jewellery in good old Beatles fashion. There is also a lift to the upper level.

Whether you’re a creature of the night or just dying to dance, don’t miss your chance to grab tickets before they vanish into the mist. Costumes encouraged. Cackles guaranteed.
