A Cinematic Soundscape: Dorothy Bird Live
Dorothy Bird brings her signature art-pop to life with Whispering Paper, a deeply atmospheric and emotionally resonant album. Expect ethereal synths, rich bass lines, and soaring vocals woven with piano, guitar, and dynamic rhythms—creating an intimate yet cinematic experience.
Following the success of her debut Belonging—described as “masterful” by fifty3 and “uplifting and haunting” by Joyzine—this second full-length release explores themes of connection, vulnerability, and hope. Her music has been championed by BBC Introducing, and in 2024, she graced the stage at Liverpool’s Yoko Ono Lennon Tung Auditorium.
Dorothy will be joined by:
- Jon Lawton – guitar
- Ryan Mallows – drums
- Kathy Halter – backing vocals & synth
Dorothy Bird – Yes Maybe (official lyric video)
Special Guests
Married To The Sea
Formed in 2007, this Liverpool-based band blends rowdy pop with bittersweet melodies. Drawing inspiration from Abba, Motown, and the off-kilter energy of The Pixies, Built to Spill, and Grandaddy, they promise a set that’s both danceable and emotionally rich.
Martha Cowan
At just 19, North London’s Martha Cowan channels the spirit of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and Fleet Foxes into her indie-folk songwriting. Her delicate yet powerful voice is sure to captivate as she opens the evening.
Don’t Miss This Historic Night
This isn’t just an album launch—it’s a farewell to one of Liverpool’s most cherished independent venues. Whether you’re a longtime fan of LEAF or discovering Dorothy Bird for the first time, this night promises to be unforgettable.
