GET READY for the triumphant return of (drumroll….) MERRY HELLOWEEN!!!
That’s right, your eyes are not deceiving you! Like a good (bad?) vampire, werewolf or zombie mysteriously back from the dead, on Friday 25th October 2024, after a break of SEVEN YEARS (where’s the time gone, eh?) everyone’s favourite folk rock band MERRY HELL return to St Helens’ best loved music venue The Citadel with a revival of their annual Merry Helloween show. Expect devilishly good songs, spooktacular musicianship, and singing so good it’ll send a shiver down your spine. Throw into the mix copious amounts of dancing and audience participation, and you’ve got yourself an experience that’ll haunt you (in a good way) all the way through to at least Christmas!
Merry Hell have made a name for themselves in recent years as one of the most energetic and entertaining bands on the UK folk festival circuit, with four critically acclaimed albums under their belts.
Founded on the ever-evolving folk tradition – music made by the people and shared by the people – though their hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came before, Merry Hell bring us new words and music forged from their own experiences, from the lows and the loves of their lives.
Emerging from the ashes of festival favourites, punk folk band Tansads, Merry Hell retains a nucleus of brothers John, Bob and Andrew Kettle (guitar, mandolin and vocals respectively), along with keyboard player Lee Goulding and drummer Andy Jones, and the addition of keys and vocalist Virginia Kettle has helped create a new identity, purpose and spirit, in their music.
This show is standing in the stalls – although when we say standing, what we really mean is dancing! There’s reserved seating in the circle for those who wish to rattle their jewellery in good old Beatles fashion. But BE WARNED – the seats have almost gone.
So come on, what are you waiting for? Grab your tickets now before they sell out!
