Single – The Last Day You Left Home

Released – 1st December 2022

Although very much a family man these days, Thom Morecroft continues to make music on a regular basis and has another album ready to go. Following on from his well-received live recording of The Beast last year, the Shropshireborn singer-songwriterdelivers his first new studio recording in three years.

The Last Day You Left Home is a short plaintive ballad that finds Thom in a subdued and reflective mood. This self-produced home recording benefits from an intricate blend of finger-picking acoustic guitars, mournful vocals and a guest ‘whisper vocal’ from Jenny Coyle. The subject matter deals with the end of a relationship and has a Phil Collins/John Martyn vibe (from the Face Value/Grace And Danger era). Thom describes the song as “a bitter yet hopeful celebration to wash our hands of the people we feel better off without.”

The single is taken from his forthcoming album, which you can pre-order from Bandcamp and also includes a bonus b-side called Joe McArdle’s Birthday, which is exclusive to Bandcamp. The track has been mastered by Nick Whitehurst.

To promote the release, the artist will be playing a free event at the British Music Experience Star Café with Jenny Colquitt on Thursday 8th December from 6:45pm.
