Over the Easter weekend songwriters were challenged to write a brand new song within 24 hours inspired by a work of art in the 24 Hour Art Challenge gallery.

All 15 entries were scored by the judges, with Paul Henry’s song Let It Go, inspired by Sarah Corcoran’s artwork RetroFlection, picking up the Judges’ Award. Second place went to Jenny Wren with her song What I Should Have Said, while third place was shared between April Moon with One Of Us Was Lying and Charlotte Rotheram with Queen Of Hearts.

The four judges were Kaya Herstad-Carney, Luke Moore, Dr Derek King, and Alison Benson.

All of the entries were put to a vote to find the Public Favourite song. The 24 hour poll closed at 12pm today with Sonny Lee James taking first place with his song One Of Us, inspired by the artwork of the same name by Mike Goodwin. Second place went to James Brennan with Giving Up (Is Letting Go), while Jenny Wren’s song What I Should Have Said came third.
