Preview: Liverpool Acoustic ‘We Shall Overcome’ Afternoon @ 81 Renshaw 30/09/17
Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon
The Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon returns on Saturday 30th September and will be the first one in its new home – 81 Renshaw.
We may have a lovely new venue but the format remains the same. From 1.00pm to 4.00pm we’ll have lots of lovely open mic slots on offer for those who wish to get up and play a couple of songs. All you need to do to grab a place is to turn up on the day and put your name down on the list. It really couldn’t be easier!
This event is open to all – so why not bring along your family and enjoy the food and drink that’s available in the front lounge bar before heading through to the venue space at the back for the music?
Special guests
Sandwiched in between the open micers will be two special guests. At 2.00pm we have Alison Benson, winner of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2016 Audience Favourite Award. Then at 3.00pm we welcome Ed Jones, winner of the Judges’ Award at last year’s Songwriting Challenge.
We Shall Overcome
This event is being run as part of We Shall Overcome, and as such our performers are encouraged to sing songs of protest and politics, social justice and compassion. Entry to the venue is free, with a voluntary collection in aid of LCVS Everyday Changes Fund.
Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2017
The afternoon also sees the launch of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2017, which this year has widened out to include any public work of art on display in the Liverpool City Region (Merseyside and Halton) from 30th September to 29th October.
