Single review: Limerance – Shine On
Artist – Limerance
Single – Shine On
Release date – 20th July 2017
Reviewer – Alison Benson
Since Jenny and Callum became Limerance around a year ago they have been delighting audiences with their beautiful close harmonies, well-crafted songs and stripped back sound of guitar, two voices, one mic. Their relaxed enthusiasm shines through their performances which come across so well on the acoustic scene.
I listened to their single Shine On with a sense of nervousness, concerned that it might be overproduced and thus lose the Limerance sound. I need not have worried as both voices sound warm and natural and the guitar remains the only instrument on the track. The magic of their live performances is not lost in the studio.
The song tells the story of love mistimed, a relationship that can never fully come to life and reflects upon what could have been. Despite the sad nature of the song, it remains uplifting and catchy.
Whether you’ve seen Limerance live or not, this is worth a listen…. it’s like having the duo in your living room.
