Merry Hell – Liverpool Acoustic’s favourite folk-rock band – launched their brand new album Bloodlines on 1st November and to celebrate they’ll be bringing the infectious excitement of their Merry Helloween live show to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall’s Music Room in January 2017 for a Friday the 13th Special!
Merry Hell have made a name for themselves in recent years as one of the most energetic and entertaining bands on the UK folk festival circuit, and with three critically acclaimed albums already under their belts a visit to Liverpool is long overdue.
Merry Hell is a band founded on the ever-evolving Folk tradition – music made by the people and shared by the people. Though their hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came before, Merry Hell bring us new words and music forged from their own experiences, from the lows and the loves of their lives.
Emerging from the ashes of festival favourites, punk folk band Tansads, Merry Hell retains a nucleus of brothers John, Bob and Andrew Kettle (guitar, mandolin and vocals respectively), along with keyboard player, Lee Goulding and drummer Andy Jones, the addition of keys and vocalist, Virginia Kettle has helped create a new identity, purpose and spirit, in their music. She took little persuading to trade in her solo singer-songwriter past for a future in the band. Her prolific, ingenious and insightful song writing is one of the focal points of Merry Hell’s recordings and live performances – her presence has perfectly complemented a group which has taken particular pride in penning originals.
Merry Hell have a growing fan base, great reviews for live shows, and their albums ‘Blink … and You’ll Miss It’, ‘Head Full of Magic, Shoes Full of Rain’, plus previous offering ‘The Ghost In Our House and other Stories’ received rave reviews in the music press, with all three getting five star reviews. The brand new album ‘Bloodlines’ (released 1st November 2016) is chock full of more Merry Hell magic as they continue to win over fans old and new with their infectious brand of modern folk rock.
Join Merry Hell on Friday the 13th January at the Music Room for much merriment, music, singing, laughter, and dancing! At a Merry Hell show there’s always dancing!
