Liverpool Acoustic Newsletter – December 2015
Congratulations to Maria Silker on winning the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2015. As part of her prize Maria will be performing a set at Liverpool Acoustic Live’s 7th birthday show in February and will be using it to launch her new album. She’s also been invited to perform at the Liverpool Acoustic Festival in March 2016 – more about that next year.
As far as December 2015 is concerned, it’s a quiet one for Liverpool Acoustic. We’ve got our weekly open mic running until 21st December plus our annual Christmas party with our friends at Acoustic Dustbowl on Friday 11th. There are plenty of other events taking place this month too, so keep an eye on our twitter and facebook accounts as we’ll be letting you know about them as and when we find out ourselves!
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC OPEN MIC
@ SOUND FOOD AND DRINK
The weekly Liverpool Acoustic Open Mic takes place every Monday at Sound Food and Drink on Duke Street. The venue has a fine selection of drinks plus some of the best handmade pizza in town, and is a perfect setting for live music. Alternate weeks are hosted by Liverpool Acoustic’s Three Minute Hero (Stuart Todd) and K’s Choice Acoustic (Derek King).
Each night starts at 8.30pm, runs through to 11.30pm, and features one or two booked acts alongside the open mic. Musicians wishing to reserve an open mic slot can either turn up early and add their name to the list or request a slot online by posting on the facebook event page at facebook.com/liverpoolacoustic/events
Our final Open Mic of the year will be on Monday 21st December, after which we’ll be taking a two week break and re-starting on Monday 11th January 2016.
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC & ACOUSTIC DUSTBOWL
CHRISTMAS PARTY
It’s that time of the year when Liverpool Acoustic and Acoustic Dustbowl join forces for a joint Christmas party. It’s taking place at the home of the two events, the View Two Gallery, on the evening of Friday 11th December.
Performing on the night will be the Liverpool Acoustic Rhythm Kings – Graham Holland, Stuart Todd and Derek King – plus Acoustic Dustbowl’s The Southbound Attic Band and the Mudcat Brothers.
Our special guest is David John Jaggs from The Ragamuffins who impressed everybody with his set at the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon at Threshold earlier in the year.
Tickets are available now in advance for £5.00 (+50p booking fee) from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic or for £6 on the door on the night. Doors open at the Acoustic Dustbowl time of 8.00pm and the music kicks off at 8.30pm.
