October 2014 sees a bumper Diary Selection Box of cracking gigs for the start of Autumn. Instead of sitting at home watching The X Factor or Strictly Come Dancing why not get out and support live music in one of the best music cities in the world?
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC OPEN MIC @ SOUND FOOD AND DRINK
Liverpool Acoustic’s weekly open mic continues every Monday at Sound Food and Drink on Duke Street. The night starts at 8.30pm, runs through to 11.30pm, and features two or three booked acts alongside the open mic. Alternate weeks are hosted by Liverpool Acoustic’s Three Minute Hero (Stuart Todd) and K’s Choice Acoustic’s Derek King.
Every single week in September was packed to the rafters with open mic performers, supporters and listeners so if you want to take part in October make sure you get down early to claim a slot and a seat. Musicians wishing to reserve an open mic slot can request a slot online by posting on the facebook event page at facebook.com/liverpoolacoustic/events
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC LIVE
Liverpool Acoustic Live for Friday 24th October 2014 sees the return of American singer and songwriter Zoe Mulford who’ll be bringing her distinct brand of North American folk to the intimacy of Mathew Street’s View Two Gallery. BBC Radio Merseyside’s On The Beat presenter Spencer Leigh said about Zoe, “These days there are thousands of singer/songwriters but only few have something new to offer. I think Zoe Mulford is very special.” We think Zoe is very special too!
Joining Zoe on the night will be Silent Cities, solo project of Simon Madison, who like Zoe has received glowing comments from a high profile radio presenter. BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson said, “It’s not a question of chords, lyrics, melody or recording quality it’s simply that sometimes you can tell within seconds that you’re listening to The Real Deal. And – take it from me – this artist, my friends, is The Real Deal.” High praise indeed!
Completing the lineup is local singer-songwriter Katie Nicholas who rose to prominence with her single Chemistry. Since then Katie has won the Michael Molloy Youth Music Award at the Liverpool Music Awards 2013 so she should fit right in at the Liverpool Music Awards’ Live Music Night of the Year!
Tickets are available now in advance for £5 from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic or for £6 on the night. Doors open at 7.45pm with the music starting at 8.15pm.
