As we mentioned a couple of days ago (here), there is only a short time left to get your entries in for the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge. The closing date is 5pm next Sunday 6th October!
October brings with it Autumn and the Liverpool Irish Festival from 10th to 20th of the month. This year there’s a call to all artists to take part in the Festival Club at the Zanzibar on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights during the festival. Details of how to apply can be found here. Be sure to check out the website to see what’s going on as there’s so much more to the festival than just fine music. liverpoolirishfestival.com
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC OPEN MIC @ SOUND
Liverpool Acoustic has joined forces with Sound Food and Drink on Duke Street to bring you a new, weekly open mic night every Monday. It’s free to attend, and performers get a free drink. The night features a number of booked acts too. Now that Breaking Bad has finished (and Monday football allowing), the night runs from 8pm to midnight, and if performers want to book a slot they can either turn up early or ask on the facebook event.
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC PRESENTS…
CELEBRATING SUBVERSION: THE ANTI-CAPITALIST ROADSHOW
Liverpool Acoustic, in association with News From Nowhere and Radical Liverpool, are proud to present the triumphant return of Celebrating Subversion: The Anti-Capitalist Roadshow, a very special evening of music on Saturday 19th October 2013 at Sefton Park Palm House.
Last year’s performance saw Sefton Park Palm House bulging at the seams, with extra chairs and benches being drafted in to accommodate the numbers. This year the lineup for the Liverpool show is confirmed as Leon Rosselson, Roy Bailey (replacing Sandra Kerr), Frankie Armstrong, Reem Kelani, and Jim Woodland. Tickets are £10 (£6 unwaged) from wegottickets or in person from News From Nowhere. Doors open at 7pm and the music starts at 7.30pm.
We’ll be telling you more about this event in the next Liverpool Acoustic Spotlight show which will include songs for all of the artists taking part.
LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC LIVE
Liverpool Acoustic Live this month sees the visit of Josh Harty from the USA. A regular and popular visitor to Grateful Fred’s, Josh will be making his first visit to the View Two Gallery on Friday 25th October.
Josh will be supported on the night by local singer-songwriter Matthew McGurty who impressed everyone at the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon last June, and Liverpool band Jimmy and the Revolvers playing an acoustic set for us.
Tickets are available in advance for £5 from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic or for £6 on the night. Doors open at the new regular time of 7.45pm, with a start time of 8.15pm and a finishing time of 10.45pm.

AND FINALLY…
There’s lots happening on the local acoustic scene at the moment, and we try our best to cover a wide range of events on the website. However, if there’s something we’re not mentioning that you feel deserves being covered then do let us know. That could be a mention in the Diary Selection Box, a review of a regular live music event, a review of an album, EP or single, or even an interview. Get in touch using the Contact page and we’ll see what we can do.
