Wirral Folk on the Coast Festival 2013

Wirral Folk on the Coast Festival 2013 is nearly here and for its ninth year the organisers have pulled out all the stops to bring you one of the best music festivals around.

It takes place from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th June 2013 and takes place on site at Whitby Sports and Social Club in Ellesmere Port where there’s camping available for those making a weekend of it.

Headlining this year is Show of Hands who’ll be performing at the Friday evening concert which also features Full House, and Ruth & Ken Powell. Other high-profile performers include Dougie Maclean, Steve Tilston, Lucy Ward, The Young Uns, Merry Hell Acoustic, and Jamie Smith’s Mabon.

Local musicians are also featured with Aliston Parker & the Third Man, AcousticA, the Goat Roper Rodeo Band, Vocal Point, Stewart Lever, Graham Bellinger, and more.

As always, there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved with sessions and workshops covering harmony singing, traditional tunes, shanty singing, poetry, dancing, and ‘meet the artists’. Added to that a craft fair market place, ceilidh, talent showcase, storytelling, and the rolling folk club, and you’ve got all the ingredients required for a great weekend.

Admission to events in the Oak Room and Main Concert Hall are by wristband or ticket only, but all other events on site are FREE ADMISSION. Tickets for Show of Hands (Friday) and Dougie Maclean (Sunday) are selling fast, so you’d better be quick.
