Looking for something to make you smile? ‘Hey Django’ is the first single from the forthcoming album from Liverpool’s Shadow Captain.

A toe-tapper to walk you into a summer with a wag of its sprightly tail, the bright melody will put a spring in your step and have you singing along and clicking your fingers within seconds. But don’t let its jaunty groove deceive you, ‘Hey Django’ is the work of a craftsman who knows the tricks of the trade. Hand claps, stacked backing vocals, the stabs of a Fender Rhodes and a melodica line to make you dream of the ghosts of summers past put the top line front and centre, while the simply sparkling melody has all the hallmarks of your favourite bittersweet sun-drenched laments.

A rare preview of the album it’s taken from allows us to reveal that ‘Hey Django’ is just the start of what’s to come from songwriter Stuart Todd’s latest set of recordings, but for now let ‘Hey Django’ into your life: it’ll leave its mark and then do a runner…
