August 2016 is another busy month for Liverpool Acoustic. Tickets are selling fast for our special 50 Years of Revolver show at Leaf this coming Friday 5th August, 50 years to the day since The Beatles launched their genre-bending album. Host Roxanne de Bastion will be joined by a collection of special guests to perform the album in full, with a second half of original songs. You can find out more details here. While you’re there, why not take part in our poll to find out the most popular song from Revolver. Will it be Here, There and Everywhere or Eleanor Rigby? Good Day Sunshine or Got To Get You Into My Life? You decide!
Our weekly Liverpool Acoustic Open Mic continues in it’s temporary home The Baltic Social, hosted by Liverpool Acoustic’s Three Minute Hero (Stuart Todd) and K’s Choice Acoustic’s (Derek King). We’ve recently reverted back to our original start time of 8.30pm, and run through to 11.00pm. Each night features one or two booked acts alongside the open mic. Musicians wishing to reserve an open mic slot can either turn up early and add their name to the list or request a slot online by posting on the facebook event page at facebook.com/liverpoolacoustic/events
You can read the full preview, and take part in the poll to find the favourite song from the album, here.
Advance tickets for the night from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic are £7 (+70p). Entry on the door on the night is £10 with all profits going to the charity In Place Of War.
On the evening of Friday 26th August we’re opening the doors of the View Two Gallery on Mathew Street and inviting people to come along to celebrate the life of the one-and-only Stan Ambrose, play a song or two, and raise a glass or three.
Doors are opening at 7.30pm and the music starts at the earlier time of 8.00pm.
Anyone interested in taking part should make a request on the facebook event page or contact us using the contact form on the website.
On the afternoon of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August we’ll be running a new event called Folk-By-The-Minute at Ziferblat Albert Dock. This is part of the new Folk Festival on the Dock, brought to you by Albert Dock Liverpool. From 1.00pm to 5.00pm we’ll have an array of talented musicians performing in The Loft upstairs at Ziferblat. Everything inside Ziferblat is free – tea, coffee, juice, cake, biscuits, and on this occasion music – and all you pay for is 8p per minute for the time you spend there.
In the evening on the two days we’ve got two special ticketed concerts we’re calling Ziferblat Folk. The one on Saturday is headlined by Robert Vincent with support from Liz Owen, and the Sunday one is headlined by the Southbound Attic Band with support from ME & Deboe. The tickets will go on sale very soon, and we’re expecting this intimate venue to sell out well in advance.
If you spot something in the diary that’s not quite right (or even wrong!) please let us know by using the ‘Contact‘ page. And if you have anything to add to the diary, just visit the ‘Diary‘ page and click the ‘Add Event’ button.
Here’s a selection of some of the acoustic events taking place this month.
Thanks to everyone who came along to our Summer Sizzler at Thornton Hough Village Club & Bar last month. We’re looking to return early next year for our Winter Warmer, but until then why not see what else they have on by following them on facebook at facebook.com/ThorntonHoughVillageClub

Liverpool Acoustic is the only website of its kind in the UK. It was founded by Graham Holland in April 2008 as a central resource for the vibrant and exciting acoustic music scene in Liverpool and the Greater Merseyside area. The website publishes news from the local acoustic music scene, previews of upcoming events, reviews of music releases and gigs, and the Liverpool Acoustic Spotlight podcast. This content is available for free via email subscription. The diary lists acoustic events including festivals, theatre concerts, folk clubs, showcases and open mic nights.
