Wirral Festival of Firsts returns from Saturday 6th to Sunday 14th July at various venues across the Wirral peninsula, and features an engaging mix of music, art, cinema, music, poetry, theatre, music, workshops, competitions, and more music! The Americana Weekend returns to the Liverpool Philharmonic on the weekend of Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July with a lineup including BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys, and Chris Moreton, plus aftershows and workshops at the Rodewald Suite. The fantastic addition for this year is the Free Americana Fringe Festival at the newly-saved Caledonia on Catharine Street, featuring The Rip Roaring Success, The Flamin’ Mamies, and much more. LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC LIVE
Liverpool Acoustic Live returns to its regular four act format this month at the View Two Gallery, with the event on Friday 26th July 2013 featuring:-
- Caroline England – a Liverpool Acoustic favourite, obsessively ginger and proud Caroline England has a great voice and great songs to match
- Zoë West – originally from the north east of England but now living in Surrey, Zoe West is a singer-songwriter making waves on the local music scene
- Mark Pountney – lead singer (as Mark Delaney) of former Liverpool band The Mojave Collective, Mark Pountney is now treading a solo musical path with his superb songs and engaging live performances.
- Sunday Jones – Gregg and Dean Billingsley perform with two guitars, two voices in harmony, and a hat full of catchy songs
Tickets are available in advance for £5 from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic or for £6 on the night. Doors open at 8.00pm. The event starts at 8.30pm and goes through to 11.00pm.

- There’s a new monthly Open Mic Night with Steve Wale at Thornton Hough Village Club and Bar. It runs from 7pm to midnight on the first Saturday of the month, and is free to attend. More details on facebook.

- Friday 12th – Acoustic Dustbowl @ View Two Gallery – with headline act Chuck Melchin (Bean Pickers Union), and support from the Southbound Attic Band. Tickets £5 from wegottickets.com, £6 on the door at 8pm.
- Saturday 13th – Norwegian Shanty Singers @ The Baltic Fleet – this regular shanty session welcomes the 10 strong group Risør Shantykor from the Norwegian town of Risør. They’ll be performing with support from Trim Rig and a Doxy, and will be joined by friends from far and near. Entrance is free, with a collection going to the RNLI. - Tuesday 16th – Unity Acoustic Night @ The Unity. Headlining is the fantastic Anna Corcoran (read the Liverpool Acoustic EP review here), with support from Jay Lewis [CAST, The La’s], Dave O’Grady, and Edward Barlow. Tickets £8 from unitytheatreliverpool.co.uk

- Wednesday 24th – Grateful Fred’s @ Lomax – Formby’s foremost providers of top-class acoustic and roots music venture into the city for the first time with headliner Nashville’s Jon Byrd, and support from The Good Intentions, Grateful Fred, and the Grateful Fred Ukulele Orchestra.
