And while we’re on the subject of Grateful Fred’s, their first event of 2013 takes place on Wednesday 6th February at Formby Royal British Legion when AJ Roach will be the headline act. Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, AJ Roach is a favourite of Bob Harris, and incorporates such diverse instrumentation as banjo, mandolin, trumpet, trombone, Wurlitzer, glockenspiel and accordion, while at the same time staying true to his Appalachian roots. Support on the night is from The Dharma Bums.

Doors open at 8pm and tickets are £7 from wegottickets.com
