You couldn’t have failed to notice that we’ve got a mighty big event coming up on Saturday 10th November when Celebrating Subversion: The Anti-Capitalist Roadshow comes to Sefton Park Palm House. We keep pinching ourselves in disbelief that we managed to secure this as the only North West show this year. And to make the night even more special, we’ve got folk legend Peggy Seeger joining the show in Liverpool! We recommend not leaving it too late to get your tickets as demand will be very high.
Also this month we’ve got the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge Showcase Final, and having listened to all of the submitted tracks we can safely say that the standard is extremely high. With all the proceeds from the night going to charity, this is set to be a really special evening at the View Two Gallery. Last year the tickets sold out in just under two weeks, so if you’re thinking of coming along to this year’s then you’d better be quick.
Squeezed in between these two events, Liverpool Acoustic will be attending the very first Liverpool Music Awards on Saturday 17th November at The Dome. As you know, we’ve been nominated for Music Night of the Year and will be flying the flag for acoustic music. If you haven’t voted for us yet, please do. It’s easy to register using your facebook or twitter ID. Our news item about it is here, and the voting page is here.

LIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC LIVE
Liverpool Acoustic Live this month is on Friday 23rd November 2012 at the View Two Gallery when we’ll be hosting the Showcase Final for the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge.
Tickets are available in advance for £5 from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic or for £5 on the night. Last year was the first time we ran this event and it sold out less than two weeks after the tickets went on sale, so if you want to attend you’ll have to be quick. Once the online tickets are sold there will be no payment on the door.
Doors open at the earlier time of 7.30pm. The event starts at 8.00pm and goes through to 10.45pm.
In addition to the ten finalists, there will also be short sets from our two judges, Stephen Langstaff and Kaya Herstad Carney.
We’re pleased to announce that our friends at Mako Music are sponsoring the Showcase Final, and will be filming it for posterity (i.e. YouTube!).

DIARY NEWS
It’s pretty quite on the Diary News front, but if you come across something that needs correcting or updating drop us a line using the ‘Contact‘ page to let us know.
You say goodbye…
- Nothing to report, just how we like it!
And I say hello…!
- With A Twist™ Acoustic Open Mic Night is Liverpool’s first and only rewards-based open mic. It’s hosted by Jason Neal in association with Vizea Sound and takes place every Wednesday evening at the new 23 Bar Club basement bar at The Clove Hitch on Hope Street. Performers earn points for playing original songs which they can exchange for free recording time or for free drinks. There are limited places, so if you’re interested then book your slot in advance by emailing Jason or visiting facebook.com/withatwistlive
- There’s a new venue called House opening on Bold Street on Saturday 24th November. They are planning music throughout the week, with live acoustic music on Sundays and open mic on Mondays. Once we’ve got the lowdown we’ll add it to the diary and mention it in December’s newsletter. Until then you can find out more by liking them on facebook.
- There’s a possibility of The Payback (7th November) developing into a regular event. We’ll keep you informed once we know more.

AND FINALLY…
Remember the Liverpool Bandstand? You know, the one in Williamson Square that hosted live music throughout the period of the year where summer should have been. Well it’s returning for Christmas and once again they’re looking for performers to take part from right across the musical spectrum. The Liverpool Bandstand will be programmed Thursday to Sunday, 12 noon onwards, with performances up to 45 minutes long. The deadline for applications is 15th November and you can find full details, plus a link to the Code of Practise and the booking form, here.
Earlier this month we received one of those regular “why didn’t you feature our event in the newsletter?” emails. The simple reply was “because you never asked”. It’s not enough just to post it on facebook because there’s no guarantee we’ll actually see it. So, if you’ve got a particular acoustic event you’d like us to add to the Diary Selection Box just drop us a line. You’ll also have to send us the details of the event if we haven’t got them already, but that’s easy to do using the ‘Add Event’ button on our Diary page.
