DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon @ 81 Renshaw 04/05/19\nThe Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon takes place on the first Saturday of every month through to September and features one or two booked guests with 20 minute sets sandwiched between lovely layers of open mic performers. \nMay’s special guests are Knotted\, a pop/folk acoustic band based in Great Yarmouth. Formed in 2009\, the band are celebrating the 10 year anniversary with a mini tour of the UK. Over the past ten years the band have self penned 6 studio albums and played across the country in a range of venues including theatres\, small intimate venues and festivals. Heavily influenced by the likes of the beautiful South\, Squeeze\, Ocean Colour scene and The Beatles. Foot tapping catchy songs and plenty of sing alongs! \nOur second booked guest is Paul Iwan\, winner of the 2019 Liverpool Acoustic 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge at Threshold Festival. \n\n12.30pm – Open mic signup\n\n\n1.00pm – Open mic start\n\n\n2.00pm – Special guests: Knotted \n\n\n3.00pm – Paul Iwan (24 Hour Songwriting Challenge winner)\n\n\n4.00pm – Open mic finish\n\nMay’s host: Graham Holland \nAs always this event is free. We sometimes take a collection which is divided between the booked acts and hosts\, but there’s absolutely no obligation to make a donation. \nThis event takes place in the performance room at the back of the venue\, and is open to all ages. DESCRIPTION:Light Night @ Music Room 17/05/19\nLIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC’S LIGHT NIGHT LINEUP SET TO TRANSFORM THE MUSIC ROOM IN MAY\nLiverpool Acoustic will once again join forces with the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to present a very special evening of music for Light Night 2019. \nOn Friday 17th May the Music Room will play host to a specially curated lineup of talented local musicians. \nPerforming on the evening will be the two winners of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge: judges’ choice Rachael Jean Harris Music and audience favourite Alison Benson Music. \nCompleting the line-up will be three stunning acoustic guitar and vocal harmony duos\, White Little Lies\, Visions of Albion and Two Black Sheep. \nThe evening runs from 5.00pm through to 10.00pm with every act performing a ten minute set each hour\, so whatever time you pop into the Music Room during Light Night if you stay for 60 minutes you’re guaranteed to catch them all! \nThe theme of this year’s Light Night is ‘Ritual’ and the artists will all be invoking the spirit ritual in their performances and musical arrangements. Expect a few surprises! \nEntry to the Music Room on the night is totally free\, you can stay for as long as you like\, and families are welcome. The groups grew in popularity with their mixture of traditional and contemporary folk songs from around the world and around the corner\, such as Maggie May\, Woman Sweeter Than Man\, The Family of Man\, Black and White\, and The Leaving of Liverpool. \nThe Spinners enjoyed nationwide success but were never more at home than when performing in front of their home crowd\, often at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. The group went their separate ways in 1988 with Cliff retiring to Australia\, and Tony returning to his first musical love with his own jazz band. Hughie and Mick continued as successful solo folk performers. \nAfter two sold out shows in 2018 The Spinners Legends sees Hughie and Mick reunited ‘In Their Liverpool Home’ with musical director\, double bass player\, friend and honorary Spinner ‘Count’ John McCormick for two more shows at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall’s Music Room.
