DESCRIPTION:Midweek Melodies is Liverpool Acoustic’s open mic. It takes place alternate Wednesdays in the front bar at 81 Renshaw and features one or two booked guests between lots of lovely three song open mic slots. \nNext event: Wednesday 3rd April \nFeatured guest: Amy Faith Morley \nWith regular host Derek King\, this is the friendliest open mic night in Liverpool. Musicians can sign up in advance on our facebook page to secure a slot\, or turn up early. \nPlease post on the event page to secure your slot.\nfacebook.com/liverpoolacoustic/events \nAs always we encourage performers to arrive early and stay after they’ve played to support other performers. We have a decent PA at the venue\, a mic and stand\, and some cables as well – if you need extra mics and things please bring your own along. DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon @ 81 Renshaw 06/04/19\nThe Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon is back after a well-deserved winter break and we’re ready to run through to September on the first Saturday of every month.\n\nThe afternoon features one or two booked guests with 20 minute sets sandwiched between lovely layers of open mic performers.\n\n\n\nApril’s host: Graham Holland\n\n \n\n 	12.30pm – Open mic signup\n 	1.00pm to 4.00pm – Open mic\n 	2.00pm – Guest 1: Carl Southworth\n 	3.00pm – Guest 2: Ahmed Khwaja\n\n\n\nAs always this event is free. We take a collection which is divided between the booked acts and hosts\, but there’s absolutely no obligation to make a donation.\n\nThis event takes place in the performance room at the back of the venue\, and is open to all ages. DESCRIPTION:Singer\, songwriter and storyteller Reg Meuross uses words and music to paint pictures that remain with the listener long after the song has been sung. \nDescribed as ‘a brilliant singer-songwriter with a social conscience’ by Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2 Folk Show\, Reg’s catalogue brings characters from history to life\, songs of protest and some of the most heart aching love songs ever written\, performed with depth and spellbinding delivery. \nIn this stunning solo show\, the master storyteller in song presents two powerful song cycles\, each centred around a prominent political activist. \nThe first song cycle is centred around Woody Guthrie’s song ‘Deportees’\, which called for the 28 Mexicans who were killed in the tragic Los Gatos air crash of 1948 to be remembered as individuals\, not as ‘28 Deportees’. \nThe second song cycle\, entitled ‘12 Silk Handkerchiefs’\, celebrates the strength and selfless perseverance of Big Lil’ Bilocca and her fight for greater safety on Hull’s fishing trawlers after the triple disaster of 1968.
