DESCRIPTION:The Beatles’ genre-bending Revolver album celebrated 50 years on\n \nSinger-songwriter Roxanne de Bastion will be performing The Beatles’ iconic Revolver album together with some of Liverpool’s best musicians and songwriters to celebrate its 50th birthday. \nSpecial guests confirmed so far include She Drew The Gun fresh from winning Glastonbury’s 2016 Emerging Talent Competition\, popular singer-songwriter Thom Morecroft\, respected international musician Richard de Bastion\, avant-garde Baroque-pop songwriter FABIA\, and Eleanor Nelly LIMF Academy 2016’s ‘Most Ready’. Also added to the lineup are Liverpool Acoustic’s Derek King who’ll be collaborating with The Southbound Attic Band on the album’s most challenging song. \nThe event is taking place at Liverpool’s Leaf on Bold Street on Friday 5th August 2016 – 50 years to the day since Revolver was first issued. \nBerlin-born Roxanne says:- “Music was my first love. When I discovered The Beatles at the unlikely age of four (or perhaps not so unlikely – George Harrison once said in an interview “every four year old watches Yellow Submarine” and I was like…”really?”)\, I fell in love irrevocably and unconditionally with harmony\, with songwriting\, with words\, with beats\, with sitars\, french horns\, with strings\, with backwards guitar licks\, with rock n roll and ballads. I can measure my life against Beatles songs\, they are the pencil markings on the door frame\, showing my height as a six year old\, a ten year old\, a 13 year old. They are the soundtrack to life and I know I’m not alone. Revolver is my favourite album of all time and this year\, on August 5th\, which just so happens to be a Friday\, it turns 50. I can’t help but celebrate! As an homage to what is undoubtedly one of the most influential albums of our time\, I’m going to perform the album live in Liverpool\, with a little help from my friends. Won’t you join us?” \nOn the night\, de Bastion and her fellow artists will be interpreting the songs and performing them in a way that is authentic to them. The second half of the evening will consist of original music – songs inspired by The Beatles – by some of Liverpool’s finest singer-songwriters. \n \nThe proceeds from 50 Years of Revolver are being donated to In Place Of War\, a charity that supports artists and creative communities living in sites of war\, revolution\, conflict\, human rights abuse and marginalisation across the world. DESCRIPTION:Double award-winning promoters Liverpool Acoustic are joining forces with Albert Dock Liverpool and Ziferblat for a brand new event – Folk Festival on the Dock. \nA new commission\, part of the Albert Dock Liverpool 175 strategy\, and supported by Liverpool City Council\, Folk Festival on the Dock will bring together the city’s rich music and maritime heritage in an exuberant celebration of live acoustic folk\, sea shanty and roots music over the August bank holiday weekend. \nAcross two afternoons (Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August) Liverpool Acoustic will be taking over The Loft upstairs at Ziferblat Albert Dock to host the world’s first Folk-By-The-Minute – a brand new concept inspired by Ziferblat’s unique pay-by-the-minute café model. Once inside\, everything you receive is free – the coffee\, the cake\, the wi-fi\, the comfy chairs\, and on this occasion the live folk music. You pay only for the time you spend at just 8p per minute.
