SUMMARY:Keep The Music Going ft Simon Howard + Jazamin @ Pierre Griffes 08/02/23
DESCRIPTION:Rob Gough Promotions are proud to announce Keep The Music Going will take place on Wednesday 8th February 2023 at Pierre Griffes on Allerton Road in Liverpool. \n\n\n\nThis co-headline show will feature Simon Howard and Jazamin. \n\n\n\nLiverpool based singer-songwriter Simon Howard began his career in 2018 after spending a secluded summer writing in Austin Texas to focus on his delicate storytelling. With his effortlessly heart-wrenching vocal\, the indie folk singer returned home to play shows across the UK and to release his debut EP ‘Youth’s Ground’ which led to multiple BBC introducing plays for his song ‘No Evidence’ in 2021.In May 2022\, Howard released his single ‘Not Like Superman’ a song in which he talks about the struggles of always trying to please others but never being good enough. With body hitting drums and a powerful 8-piece string section\, the song carries you through what feels like a Western showdown\, staring straight into the eyes of anyone who has ever wronged you. Howards latest single ‘Trojan Horse’ is a joyful gallop reminiscing of his own personal attacks when feeling at his most vulnerable. Both singles led to airtime on BBC introducing and Amazing Radio. \n\n\n\nCurrently developing her debut EP\, which blends folk-punk sounds\, biting lyrics and harmonies\, Jazamin is a self-taught singer-songwriter who regularly plays gigs in and around Liverpool. Jazamin is also a member of Sense of Sound Singers\, and has been performing with them since 2005. In 2015\, her song ‘Ten Years’ was selected for Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent Competition’s Longlist by Clash Magazine for its “skillfully executed\, folk-derived songwriting”. SUMMARY:My Darling Clementine - Country Darkness/Christmas Light @ Music Room 04/12/22
DESCRIPTION:A Winter Celebration of Clementine\, Costello\, Country and Christmas \n\n\n\nMy Darling Clementine’s most recent album\, Country Darkness – The songs of Elvis Costello\, has been hailed as a classic. The new album sees them collaborating with the piano genius Steve Nieve\, Costello’s long time right-hand man\, as they reinterpret songs from the Costello back catalogue\, in particular his more country and country soul flavoured songs. \n\n\n\nA labour of love on multiple levels\, My Darling Clementine – the sobriquet of spouses Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish – began as a homage to classic country duets of the 60’s and 70’s. During the past 9 years they have played over 800 shows around the world\, won numerous awards and have more than earned their own bona fides\, with their wry yet heart-on-sleeve song craft spotlighting the vagaries of romance and the human condition\, and their match-made-in-heaven harmonies. \n\n\n\nIn this show\, the duo will perform a number of the Costello songs\, many favourites from their own nine year back catalogue\, as well as some of their favourite seasonal country classics. \n\n\n\n‘King and Dalgleish have earned their place in the role call of great country duettists.’ Uncut\n\n\n\n‘My Darling Clementine mix country gloom with excellent musicianship and very fine songs.’ The Guardian

SUMMARY:Keep The Music Going ft Jinda Biant + Paul Iwan @ Pierre Griffes 09/11/22
DESCRIPTION:Rob Gough Promotions with Liverpool Acoustic are proud to announce that Keep The Music Going will take place on Wednesday 9th November at Pierre Griffes on Allerton Road. \n\n\n\nThis session will feature a remarkable talent named Jinda Biant and the award-winning songwriter\, Paul Iwan. \n\n\n\nJinda Biant is a singer-songwriter unlike any other. With most of his early years spent lost in his father’s record collection\, with music from the likes of Elvis Presley\, to even more legendary artists like Lead Belly and Robert Johnson. Jinda’s influences run deep\, deeper than most musicians I’ve seen for some time. \n\n\n\nBut let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Even before all of this\, his first step on his musical journey was into Indian Classical Music\, from the Sitar playing of Ravi Shankar & the powerful vocals of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. By the age of ten\, Jinda was performing Tabla (Indian Classical Drums) at many venues around Britain. And ever since\, Jinda loves the journey that music takes him on. \n\n\n\nNowadays\, you’re more likely to hear his passion for music\, when his bottle neck slide’s howlin’ and his Mississippi stomp box stompin’. He picked up the guitar in his early teens\, it was a path less trodden for someone of Jinda’s musical heritage\, but it was one he stepped on with a willingness to learn and he followed the Greats that had come before. \n\n\n\nSo now he finds himself making his own footsteps on his own path\, like the musicians he followed. From releasing his Debut album “Restless” last year and then being featured on BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephen’s Show. He now finds himself playing shows worldwide\, promoting his music and collecting stories along the way. \n\n\n\nSo don’t miss your chance to see the electrifying powerful experience that is Jinda Biant. \n\n\n\n“Jinda is a young man with a lot of talent\, with individual ideas about his music and not just a copyist like so many others a very good listen – Blues Matters Magazine 2019. \n\n\n\nBBC Asian network’s Bobby Friction describes him as “the emblematic poster boy of new music.” \n\n\n\nPaul Iwan is a Liverpool-Based Singer Songwriter and Multi-Instrumentalist. \n\n\n\n‘You’re never too far away from a seductive melody or an inspirational rush…the quality of his work stands loud and proud’ \n\n\n\nMike Ainscoe\, http://www.atthebarrier.com \n\n\n\nMixing elements of Electro with Alternative Rock and emotive songwriting\, Paul Iwan (yoo-un) is one of the most intriguing talents in Liverpool’s fertile and eclectic scene. \n\n\n\n2019 was a big year for Iwan. His self-released and self-produced debut album Resister hit the shelves to local critical acclaim and was immediately pronounced ‘a classic’ by John Robb’s http://www.louderthanwar.com \n\n\n\nLater the same year\, Iwan entered and won the Acoustic 24hr Songwriting Challenge at Liverpool’s Threshold Festival with new song Returning and also acquired Julian Cope’s legendary green Framus guitar\, releasing a tribute to his hero with a cover of the Eighties classic ‘Reward’. \n\n\n\nOther highlights so far include airplay on BBC Radio 6\, a songwriting mentorship with The Kinks iconic frontman Ray Davies and numerous appearances at the International Pop Overthrow Festival in New York. \n\n\n\nIn 2021\, Iwan signed with independent local label Klee Music and released his new album Present in April 2022. \n\n\n\nDescribed by http://www.explore-liverpool.com as ‘a powerful and thought-provoking record and one on repeat’ and http://www.liverpoolsoundandvision.co.uk as ‘a masterpiece’\, Present is available now on limited edition red vinyl\, CD and download at http://www.pauliwan.co.uk \n\n\n\nTickets are just £5 and available on Eventbrite. \n\n\n\nBrought to you by Rob Gough Promotions\, in association with Liverpool Acoustic\, Keep The Music Going\, will be a series of shows all about music and supporting up and coming songwriters and musicians whilst also featuring established performers along the way. \n\n\n\nDuring this series of gigs every effort will be made to keep ticket prices affordable so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy live music. \n\n\n\nThis session takes place on Wednesday 9th November 2022 at Pierre Griffes Cafe Bar & Bistro on Allerton Road in Liverpool. SUMMARY:Jon Gomm @ Music Room 05/11/22
DESCRIPTION:Jon Gomm is a singer-songwriter and acoustic solo performer based in Yorkshire\, known for his once-seen-never-forgotten virtuoso guitar style. This involves slapping\, tapping and retuning as he plays\, producing a huge\, multi-layered sound filled with bass\, drums and near-orchestral depth and complexity\, all from a single guitar. \n\n\n\nHis songs are often deeply emotive\, whether with or without his soft\, affecting voice. And his live performances are intimate and powerful\, but always punctured by his natural North Of England wit and self-deprecation. \n\n\n\nHis breakthrough came in 2012\, when he released his first ever single\, ‘Passionflower’\, along with a video of him performing the song\, which went viral\, totalling well over 20 million views across platforms. Suddenly being catapulted from cult obscurity to mainstream acceptance has been a strange experience for someone so devoted to his craft\, and Jon is an unlikely guitar hero who remains very much true to his roots in the UK acoustic circuit. Jon has released 4 studio albums\, his latest being The Faintest Idea.

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT - Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horrors @ Music Room 31/10/22
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT\n\n\n\nNosferatu (1922) is arguably the film that gave birth to the horror genre. Notable as the first cinematic interpretation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula\, its combination of expressionistic acting and unforgettable images render it just as powerful and unsettling today as when it first thrilled cinema goers 100 years ago. \n\n\n\nChris Green’s new score was originally commissioned by English Heritage for a live screening of the film at Dracula’s spiritual home of Whitby Abbey. The music is a haunting blend of electronic and acoustic instruments performed live by the composer and\, combined with director F.W. Murnau’s iconic images\, makes for a genuinely remarkable and unique cinematic experience. \n\n\n\nBorn into a musical family in Coventry\, Chris Green began playing guitar at the age of eight and piano from the age of nine\, and plays most things with fretted strings or keys. Largely self-taught\, he’s worked in a variety of musical genres including folk\, theatre and early music. He’s a regular musician at Shakespeare’s Globe and was also one of the musicians on BBC’s Poldark. He also writes and composes and in 2018\, he released his first solo album Switched-On Playford\, which fuses 17th century dance music with electronica\, using a blend of early instruments\, synths and loops.
