DESCRIPTION:Double award-winning promoters Liverpool Acoustic are joining forces with Albert Dock Liverpool and Ziferblat for a brand new event – Folk Festival on the Dock. \nA new commission\, part of the Albert Dock Liverpool 175 strategy\, and supported by Liverpool City Council\, Folk Festival on the Dock will bring together the city’s rich music and maritime heritage in an exuberant celebration of live acoustic folk\, sea shanty and roots music over the August bank holiday weekend. \nAcross two afternoons (Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August) Liverpool Acoustic will be taking over The Loft upstairs at Ziferblat Albert Dock to host the world’s first Folk-By-The-Minute – a brand new concept inspired by Ziferblat’s unique pay-by-the-minute café model. Once inside\, everything you receive is free – the coffee\, the cake\, the wi-fi\, the comfy chairs\, and on this occasion the live folk music. You pay only for the time you spend at just 8p per minute. DESCRIPTION:The Beatles’ genre-bending Revolver album celebrated 50 years on\n \nSinger-songwriter Roxanne de Bastion will be performing The Beatles’ iconic Revolver album together with some of Liverpool’s best musicians and songwriters to celebrate its 50th birthday. \nSpecial guests confirmed so far include She Drew The Gun fresh from winning Glastonbury’s 2016 Emerging Talent Competition\, popular singer-songwriter Thom Morecroft\, respected international musician Richard de Bastion\, avant-garde Baroque-pop songwriter FABIA\, and Eleanor Nelly LIMF Academy 2016’s ‘Most Ready’. Also added to the lineup are Liverpool Acoustic’s Derek King who’ll be collaborating with The Southbound Attic Band on the album’s most challenging song. \nThe event is taking place at Liverpool’s Leaf on Bold Street on Friday 5th August 2016 – 50 years to the day since Revolver was first issued. \nBerlin-born Roxanne says:- “Music was my first love. When I discovered The Beatles at the unlikely age of four (or perhaps not so unlikely – George Harrison once said in an interview “every four year old watches Yellow Submarine” and I was like…”really?”)\, I fell in love irrevocably and unconditionally with harmony\, with songwriting\, with words\, with beats\, with sitars\, french horns\, with strings\, with backwards guitar licks\, with rock n roll and ballads. I can measure my life against Beatles songs\, they are the pencil markings on the door frame\, showing my height as a six year old\, a ten year old\, a 13 year old. They are the soundtrack to life and I know I’m not alone. Revolver is my favourite album of all time and this year\, on August 5th\, which just so happens to be a Friday\, it turns 50. I can’t help but celebrate! As an homage to what is undoubtedly one of the most influential albums of our time\, I’m going to perform the album live in Liverpool\, with a little help from my friends. Won’t you join us?” \nOn the night\, de Bastion and her fellow artists will be interpreting the songs and performing them in a way that is authentic to them. DESCRIPTION:Friday 17th June at Mathew Street’s View Two Gallery marks the release of Liverpool singer-songwriter Derek King’s second solo album\, entitled “Seasons”. \nDerek’s first album\, “Sometimes” (released in the Spring of 2015) was a collection of timeless songs all about the ups and downs of everyday life\, about sometimes winning and sometimes losing. In “Seasons” he continues to explore similar themes\, about how\, as the Earth turns\, the changing of the seasons brings us constant change. Change can of course be predictable\, but often we have little or no control over our fate. “Across the Strings” is a story about two strangers sharing a moment in time that could have perhaps have been more\, “Summer Breeze” is all about a special someone entering one’s life as randomly and unexpectedly as a breeze\, while “Perfect Days” tells us how to be happy while being broke. \nThis collection again contains two songs that were recent entries to the annual Liverpool Acoustic songwriting challenge\, “Reflections” being about a man looking in the mirror and reflecting upon his life\, and “Sally”\, the story of a girl growing up who\, seeing so much unfairness and unhappiness in the world\, continually asks “why” and vows to campaign against injustice. \nSupport on the launch night will be provided by wonderful pianist and vocalist Nicola Hardman\, plus Northern Irish folk-rock band Gary Maginnis and the Like. \n \nTickets are available in advance for £5.00 (+50p booking fee) from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic or for £6 on the door on the night. \nDoors open at our regular time of 7.45pm with the music starting at 8.15pm sharp. \nPlease note this is on the third Friday of the month\, not our regular fourth Friday. \nPlease note\, the performance space at the View Two Gallery is on the third floor and there is no disabled access. \nAll of our future live events can be found at liverpoolacoustic.co.uk/events

DESCRIPTION:The Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon returns to the View Two Gallery on Mathew Street for the first time this year. It’s a chilled out afternoon of acoustic music with our legendary open mic filling up the spaces between our two featured acts\, Richard Lomax and Maddie Stenberg Music \nThe gallery is open 12pm to 5pm\, and the music runs from 1pm to 4pm. \nThe bar will be open selling tea\, coffee and alcohol. \nIt’s a perfect afternoon for the family to enjoy great music in the fantastic surroundings of one of Liverpool’s best independent galleries.
