DESCRIPTION:UPDATE 23rd January \nUnfortunately Karen Turley has had to pull out due to a family bereavement. Everyone at Liverpool Acoustic would like to send Karen our deepest condolences\, and a virtual hug from across the Irish Sea. Karen’s EP launch will now take place on Friday 24th March. Tickets will be available very soon. \nWe’re delighted to tell you that Paul Dunbar has agreed to step into the headline slot for Friday 27th January at the View Two Gallery. Paul is well known across the UK both as a solo performer and with his Black Winter Band. DESCRIPTION:UPDATE – This event is now SOLD OUT\nContact the Liverpool Philharmonic box office for returns\nMerry Hell – Liverpool Acoustic’s favourite folk-rock band – are bringing the infectious excitement of their Merry Helloween live show to the Music Room in January for a Friday the 13th Special! \nSupport is from Wirral-based Americana trio Jimmy Rae and the Moonshine Girls. \nMerry Hell have made a name for themselves in recent years as one of the most energetic and entertaining bands on the UK folk festival circuit\, and with three critically acclaimed albums under their belts (and a new one on the way) a visit to Liverpool is long overdue. \nMerry Hell is a band founded on the ever-evolving Folk tradition – music made by the people and shared by the people. Though their hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came before\, Merry Hell bring us new words and music forged from their own experiences\, from the lows and the loves of their lives. \nEmerging from the ashes of festival favourites\, punk folk band Tansads\, Merry Hell retains a nucleus of brothers John\, Bob and Andrew Kettle (guitar\, mandolin and vocals respectively)\, along with keyboard player\, Lee Goulding and drummer Andy Jones\, the addition of keys and vocalist\, Virginia Kettle has helped create a new identity\, purpose and spirit\, in their music. She took little persuading to trade in her solo singer-songwriter past for a future in the band. DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic Presents: Leon Rosselson\nLiverpool Acoustic is delighted to welcome back to Liverpool folk legend Leon Rosselson.  \nA stalwart of the 1960s folk revival\, Leon is an incomparable songwriter with a unique style\, and a wicked sense of mischief. His songs poke fun at the preposterous\, the people in power\, the state of the nation and the world.  \nHis most recent – and final – album ‘Where are the barricades?’ features some of his finest songs\, ranging from the humorous to the poignant and from the lyrical to the satirical. Stories for our times\, musically varied and not a word out of place. \nSupport is provided by Esme Bridie\, a 19-year-old singer- songwriter from the Wirral. Influenced by 1960’s folk artists such as Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan\, Esme has always had a love of words and imagery\, and takes great pride in her lyrics. Esme is currently studying a BA Hons music degree at Leeds College of Music\, which has given her the opportunity to perform in venues across Leeds as well as collaborate with like-minded musicians.

SUMMARY:Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge launch event 10/09/16
DESCRIPTION:The launch event for the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2016 will take place on Saturday 10th September.\n\n\n \n\n\nThe View Two Gallery on Mathew Street will be open to the public as normal from 12pm to 5pm.\n\n\n \n\n\nLiverpool Acoustic will be hosting the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon from 1pm to 4pm. During this time songwriters are invited to come along and have a look around the View Two Gallery\, one of Liverpool’s best independent art galleries.\n\n\n \n\n\nTo enter the challenge a songwriter will choose a piece of art in the gallery that inspires them. The songwriter then has a month in which to write a new song inspired by their chosen work of art and submit it as a recording along with a copy of the lyrics and a photo of the work of art. The judges will then choose 10 songs to go through to the Showcase Final on Friday 25th November 2016.\n\n\n \n\n\nIf for any reason a songwriter wishes to enter the challenge but cannot attend on Saturday 10th September then they can visit the View Two Gallery at any time during normal opening hours.
