SUMMARY:Jon Gomm @ Music Room 27/05/17
DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic and Glasswerk present Jon Gomm.\nReturning to Liverpool for the first time since 2015\, Jon will be performing at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall Music Room on Saturday 27th May 2017. \n‘Once you get over the jaw dropping manoeuvres and technique\, you will be rewarded with some spectacularly beautiful songs.’ Blues & Soul Magazine perfectly describe how you feel when witnessing Jon Gomm play. \nThe acoustic singer-songwriter with a revolutionary virtuoso guitar style is exceptional. He uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds\, basslines and twisting melodies all at the same time. His emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting\, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead. \nLive\, he combines deeply personal performances and a natural wit\, with a once seen\, never forgotten two-handed guitar style\, both physical and complex\, producing sounds you can barely believe are coming from a humble acoustic guitar. \nTickets are £15 from the Liverpool Philharmonic box office. \n7pm doors for an 8pm start. \n\nPlease note that this is a standing concert.

SUMMARY:Roxanne de Bastion 'Heirlooms & Hearsay' Album Tour @ Leaf 05/05/17
DESCRIPTION:Roxanne de Bastion is touring the UK this May to celebrate the launch of her new album Heirlooms & Hearsay. Her Liverpool show is taking place at Leaf on Bold Street\, and will feature some very special guests to be announced soon. \nFollowing in the footsteps of the 1960’s greats like Dylan\, Nyro\, Mitchell with a touch of Beatles psychedelia\, de Bastion is on the forefront of the new singer-songwriter generation: Someone with something to say and a musicality to match. \nSince the release of her debut album The Real Thing in 2013 and her follow up Seeing You EP in 2014\, London artist Roxanne de Bastion has made a name for herself across Europe as “a real mover and shaker in the independent music scene” (Ruth Barnes). Over the past 12 months\, Roxanne has toured with the Wainright Sisters\, Thea Gilmore\, Ricky Ross and completed her own UK headline tour\, with sell-out shows in London and Liverpool\, racking up an impressive list of awards and accolades. \nOne of the most perfect voices I’ve ever heard – Tom Whalley\, BBC6\nStandout number…astonishingly assured – The Sunday Times\nIf you ever get a chance to see her live – definitely do! – BBC Introducing Coventry & Warwickshire \nThe first single RUN is out now\, described by Getintothis as ““a track that should quite simply adorn every playlist in the land… Melodic majesty”. \nRoxanne performed at Glastonbury (acoustic stage) last year and has just finished recording her second studio album together with producer Peter Miles (Eliza and the Bear / Meadowlark). The main inspiration the album is Roxanne’s grandfather\, Stephen de Bastion (or Istvan Bastyai von Holzer)\, a pianist from Hungary who made a new home for himself and his family in Stratford upon Avon after enduring the Second World War and the Communist takeover of his homeland. \nRoxanne draws parallels between his historical experiences and what’s happening now\, exploring how trauma gets passed on through generations and pointing a singer at society’s short term memory. \nEvent: Roxanne de Bastion ‘Heirlooms & Hearsay’ Album Tour\nSupport: TBC\nDate: Friday 5th May 2017\nVenue: Leaf on Bold Street\, Liverpool\nTimes: Doors 7.30pm\, 8pm start\nTickets: £7 advance\, £10 on the door

SUMMARY:Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon at Threshold 01/04/17
DESCRIPTION:April Fool’s Day 2017 sees the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon return to Threshold Festival for the seventh year running with a typically exciting and varied lineup. \nThe event takes place from 1.00pm to 6.00pm on Saturday 1st April 2017 in the heart of the Baltic Triangle at 24 Kitchen Street. \nKalandra will be making a highly anticipated return to the city\, flying in from Oslo to headline the event\, and taking us on a spellbinding journey through ethereal musical landscapes. \nLive! In Color is “a band from Liverpool\, and all over the world”. Steeped in family traditions of Irish music\, Niamh has previously performed well-received sets at Above the Beaten Track and the Liverpool Acoustic Festival. \nDerek King is a singer-songwriter with two albums of thoughtful\, well-written songs already under his belt. A stalwart of the local scene\, Derek runs and co-hosts the weekly Liverpool Acoustic Open Mic at the Courtroom Cafe\, and the monthly Liverpool Acoustic Live at the View Two Gallery. \nIan Janco rides the full spectrum of folk and Americana\, often with a pop twinge. Hailing from California but now based in Liverpool\, Ian’s songwriting recently received a glowing review from Getintothis. \nNicola Hardman is no stranger to Liverpool Acoustic\, having stepped in at short notice to fill a gap in the lineup for Liverpool Acoustic Live last January. Nicola’s performances combine interesting songs and captivating performances with voice and keyboard. \nThree Minute Hero is a trio fronted by former Liverpool Acoustic organiser Stuart Todd on guitar and vocals\, with Andy Fernihough on bass and Chris Cousineau on percussion. Expect catchy\, upbeat songs with a social conscience. \nKatie Spencer is a singer songwriter from the Kingston upon Hull end of the M62 who’s inspired by the people and her surroundings in the Yorkshire countryside. Her ever-evolving and infinite musical tastes and influences\, including John Martyn and Led Zeppelin\, produce refreshingly mature songs that quieten the room as you accompany their characters on evocative and poignant journeys. \nThe Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon is open to all weekend and day ticket holders. Tickets can be bought in advance via thresholdfestival.com \nThreshold Festival wouldn’t be the same without the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon. Come along and find out why on April 1st. \n  \n  \nLiverpool Acoustic Afternoon at Threshold 01/04/17

SUMMARY:**SOLD OUT** Merry Hell @ Music Room 13/01/17
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE – This event is now SOLD OUT\nContact the Liverpool Philharmonic box office for returns\nMerry Hell – Liverpool Acoustic’s favourite folk-rock band – are bringing the infectious excitement of their Merry Helloween live show to the Music Room in January for a Friday the 13th Special! \nSupport is from Wirral-based Americana trio Jimmy Rae and the Moonshine Girls. \nMerry Hell have made a name for themselves in recent years as one of the most energetic and entertaining bands on the UK folk festival circuit\, and with three critically acclaimed albums under their belts (and a new one on the way) a visit to Liverpool is long overdue. \nMerry Hell is a band founded on the ever-evolving Folk tradition – music made by the people and shared by the people. Though their hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came before\, Merry Hell bring us new words and music forged from their own experiences\, from the lows and the loves of their lives. \nEmerging from the ashes of festival favourites\, punk folk band Tansads\, Merry Hell retains a nucleus of brothers John\, Bob and Andrew Kettle (guitar\, mandolin and vocals respectively)\, along with keyboard player\, Lee Goulding and drummer Andy Jones\, the addition of keys and vocalist\, Virginia Kettle has helped create a new identity\, purpose and spirit\, in their music. She took little persuading to trade in her solo singer-songwriter past for a future in the band. Her prolific\, ingenious and insightful song writing is one of the focal points of Merry Hell’s recordings and live performances – her presence has perfectly complemented a group which has taken particular pride in penning originals. \nMerry Hell have a growing fan base\, great reviews for live shows\, and their albums ‘Blink … and You’ll Miss It’\, ‘Head Full of Magic\, Shoes Full of Rain’\, plus previous offering ‘The Ghost In Our House and other Stories’ received rave reviews in the music press\, with all three getting five star reviews. The brand new album ‘Bloodlines’ (released 1st November 2016) is chock full of more Merry Hell magic as they continue to win over fans old and new with their infectious brand of modern folk rock. \nShow: Merry Hell – Friday the 13th Special\nSupport: Jimmy Rae and the Moonshine Girls\nDate: Friday 13th January 2017\nVenue: Music Room\, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall\nTickets: £13 full price\, £11 concessions\n\nPLEASE NOTE This is a standing event. Well\, you can’t dance with tables and chairs in the way\, can you? 😉\nMerry Hell ‘Friday the 13th’ Special @ Music Room 13/01/17
