DESCRIPTION:Singer-songwriter Karen Turley launches her brand new EP Like We Used To at the View Two Gallery on Friday 24th March 2017. \nSupport is provided by new duo Hands of Grain (Daniel Saleh & Gabby Hayes-Wishart)\, and local singer-songwriter Joanne Louise. \nIn 2015 Omagh-born\, Liverpool-based Turley\, a former member of bluegrass trio The Jesse Janes\, was chosen to perform ‘in the round’ at Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Cafe with US music legends Beth Nielsen Chapman and Don Henry. A busy 2016 saw her supporting Xander and the Peace Pirates\, and playing at the Liverpool Acoustic Festival\, Chorlton Arts Festival\, and the inaugural Folk Festival on the Dock. Karen’s new EP was recorded in December 2016 and features four brand new songs from the rising country star. \nSo come along to the View Two Gallery and see one of folk and Americana’s rising stars performing in an intimate setting. Everyone at Liverpool Acoustic would like to send Karen our deepest condolences\, and a virtual hug from across the Irish Sea. Karen’s EP launch will now take place on Friday 24th March. DESCRIPTION:UPDATE – This event is now SOLD OUT\nContact the Liverpool Philharmonic box office for returns\nMerry Hell – Liverpool Acoustic’s favourite folk-rock band – are bringing the infectious excitement of their Merry Helloween live show to the Music Room in January for a Friday the 13th Special! \nSupport is from Wirral-based Americana trio Jimmy Rae and the Moonshine Girls. \nMerry Hell have made a name for themselves in recent years as one of the most energetic and entertaining bands on the UK folk festival circuit\, and with three critically acclaimed albums under their belts (and a new one on the way) a visit to Liverpool is long overdue. \nMerry Hell is a band founded on the ever-evolving Folk tradition – music made by the people and shared by the people. Though their hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came before\, Merry Hell bring us new words and music forged from their own experiences\, from the lows and the loves of their lives. \nEmerging from the ashes of festival favourites\, punk folk band Tansads\, Merry Hell retains a nucleus of brothers John\, Bob and Andrew Kettle (guitar\, mandolin and vocals respectively)\, along with keyboard player\, Lee Goulding and drummer Andy Jones\, the addition of keys and vocalist\, Virginia Kettle has helped create a new identity\, purpose and spirit\, in their music. DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic returns to the newly refurbished Sound on Duke Street for We Shall Overcome 2016. \nStarted in 2015\, We Shall Overcome is a UK grass roots music community response to the cuts to public services\, and the hardship caused by them. \nFrom 1pm to 5pm there will be a selection of talented musicians performing 25 minute sets\, with the finale brought to you by the Liverpool Acoustic Rhythm Kings (Stuart Todd\, Derek King\, Pete King\, and guests!). \nEntry to Sound is free\, although we’ll be asking for donations (suggested minimum of £3) which will be given to the South Liverpool Foodbank. Please note\, we will not be accepting any food donations.
