DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic and Heaven’s Gate join forces once again to bring you the now traditional We Shall Overcome all-dayer at 81 Renshaw. It takes place on Saturday 5th October and runs from 1pm to 11pm (with a short break at the end of the afternoon). \nEntry is a budget-busting £3 on the door or £5 for entry and a natty WSO wristband that you can cherish all year round. All money raised goes to supporting the work of LCVS and additional donations are both accepted and welcome. \nLiverpool Acoustic are looking after the afternoon from 1pm to 5pm with hosts Derek King and Stuart Todd introducing an array of talent including Carl Southworth\, Tom Vern\, Chris Callander\, SirneSong\, The Folk Doctors\, Charlie McKeon\, King & Byrne\, and Visions of Albion. \nHeaven’s Gate take over at 6.15pm and take us through to 11pm with Rae Clark\, Gareth Heesom\, Campbell L Sangster\, Rachael Jean Harris\, Mathew McClure\, Shadow Captain\, Katie Nicholas and Thom Morecroft. \nLiverpool and Merseyside are famous throughout the land for supporting worthy causes and social justice\, and We Shall Overcome is an ideal opportunity for us to show what we think of the current shitshow. \nCome on\, let’s do this!

DESCRIPTION:Come together to celebrate 50 years of The Beatles’ Abbey Road at Leaf on 26th September\nIn 2016 a group of local\, national and international musicians fronted by Roxanne de Bastion and Thom Morecroft gathered together at Leaf on Bold Street to recreate the groundbreaking Beatles album Revolver\, 50 years to the day since its release. DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic Live presents Esme Bridie\, Henry Bateman and Ric Neale in concert at Studio2 Parr Street on Friday 7th June 2019. \nPresented as a songwriters’ circle\, this special show will feature all three musicians sharing the stage performing solo songs alongside exciting duo and trio collaborations. \nEsme Bridie grew up in Merseyside and began writing songs as a teenager. Influenced by classic singer- songwriters like Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell\, she has now crafted her unique sound combining elements of folk\, pop\, blues\, jazz and indie.  Esme recently released her first album\, ‘Today it Rains’ through independent record label\, Klee Music . Her album has gained glowing reviews from the likes of GIGsoup\, Impact magazine\, Liverpool Noise and Liverpool Acoustic. \nHenry Bateman was recently described by Spill Magazine as ‘perhaps the greatest undiscovered talent today’. His music falls somewhere between the worlds of ambient\, progressive rock and folk musics; somewhere between Peter Gabriel\, Neil Finn and James Taylor\, with a virtuoso acoustic guitar style reminiscent of the likes of Nick Drake and Michael Hedges. He’s doing his own thing; at the age of just 22\, he’s just released his third solo album ‘Hide & Seek’ to high critical acclaim.  \nRic Neale is a musician and songwriter. His new record “All That Counts” sees him return to his roots as a solo piano player and vocalists as he brings five brand new original songs to life in a live setting. This will add to his cannon of three solo releases so far. He has just finished working as Songwriter\, Musical Director and performer in the sell out show “Dancing Bear” with Jamie Fletcher and Company that toured The West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds and The Contact Theatre in Manchester. Ric has performed in with of a range of artists including Jason Donovan\, David Mead and Chris Helme\, and has lectured on the craft of songwriting for over ten years. \nThis is Liverpool Acoustic’s first show at Studio 2 and we’re delighted to welcome these three talented singer-songwriters to mark the occasion. The groups grew in popularity with their mixture of traditional and contemporary folk songs from around the world and around the corner\, such as Maggie May\, Woman Sweeter Than Man\, The Family of Man\, Black and White\, and The Leaving of Liverpool. \nThe Spinners enjoyed nationwide success but were never more at home than when performing in front of their home crowd\, often at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. The group went their separate ways in 1988 with Cliff retiring to Australia\, and Tony returning to his first musical love with his own jazz band. DESCRIPTION:Light Night @ Music Room 17/05/19\nLIVERPOOL ACOUSTIC’S LIGHT NIGHT LINEUP SET TO TRANSFORM THE MUSIC ROOM IN MAY\nLiverpool Acoustic will once again join forces with the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to present a very special evening of music for Light Night 2019. \nOn Friday 17th May the Music Room will play host to a specially curated lineup of talented local musicians. \nPerforming on the evening will be the two winners of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge: judges’ choice Rachael Jean Harris Music and audience favourite Alison Benson Music. \nCompleting the line-up will be three stunning acoustic guitar and vocal harmony duos\, White Little Lies\, Visions of Albion and Two Black Sheep. \nThe evening runs from 5.00pm through to 10.00pm with every act performing a ten minute set each hour\, so whatever time you pop into the Music Room during Light Night if you stay for 60 minutes you’re guaranteed to catch them all! \nThe theme of this year’s Light Night is ‘Ritual’ and the artists will all be invoking the spirit ritual in their performances and musical arrangements. Expect a few surprises! \nEntry to the Music Room on the night is totally free\, you can stay for as long as you like\, and families are welcome. Formed in 2009\, the band are celebrating the 10 year anniversary with a mini tour of the UK. Over the past ten years the band have self penned 6 studio albums and played across the country in a range of venues including theatres\, small intimate venues and festivals. Heavily influenced by the likes of the beautiful South\, Squeeze\, Ocean Colour scene and The Beatles. DESCRIPTION:Singer\, songwriter and storyteller Reg Meuross uses words and music to paint pictures that remain with the listener long after the song has been sung. \nDescribed as ‘a brilliant singer-songwriter with a social conscience’ by Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2 Folk Show\, Reg’s catalogue brings characters from history to life\, songs of protest and some of the most heart aching love songs ever written\, performed with depth and spellbinding delivery. \nIn this stunning solo show\, the master storyteller in song presents two powerful song cycles\, each centred around a prominent political activist. \nThe first song cycle is centred around Woody Guthrie’s song ‘Deportees’\, which called for the 28 Mexicans who were killed in the tragic Los Gatos air crash of 1948 to be remembered as individuals\, not as ‘28 Deportees’. \nThe second song cycle\, entitled ‘12 Silk Handkerchiefs’\, celebrates the strength and selfless perseverance of Big Lil’ Bilocca and her fight for greater safety on Hull’s fishing trawlers after the triple disaster of 1968. DESCRIPTION:Hughie Jones plays guitar\, banjo\, and ukulele and was taught harmonica by the legendary blues man Sonny Terry. A member of The Spinners Folkgroup until their disbandment at the end of 1988\, Hughie and the band made over 30 LPs and dozens of compilations were produced on the Fontana\, Phillips and EMI labels. \nHughie’s work now centres particularly on sea song and this has given him a platform at home and aborad. His CD ‘Liverpool Connexions’ features mostly maritime works and a fair sprinkling of characters from his native Liverpool too. His latest CD ‘Maritime Miscellany’ contains songs from many aspects of seafaring and features friends from his long association with Fellside Recordings. \nFree entry – registration required

DESCRIPTION:Merry Hell – After two consecutive years of sold out shows Liverpool Acoustic’s favourite folk-rock band are returning to the Music Room on Saturday 23rd February for another hell-raising show. \nMerry Hell have made a name for themselves in recent years as one of the most energetic and entertaining bands on the UK folk festival circuit\, and with three critically acclaimed albums under their belts (and a new one on the way) a visit to Liverpool is long overdue. \nMerry Hell is a band founded on the ever-evolving Folk tradition – music made by the people and shared by the people. Though their hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came before\, Merry Hell bring us new words and music forged from their own experiences\, from the lows and the loves of their lives. \nEmerging from the ashes of festival favourites\, punk folk band Tansads\, Merry Hell retains a nucleus of brothers John\, Bob and Andrew Kettle (guitar\, mandolin and vocals respectively)\, along with keyboard player\, Lee Goulding and drummer Andy Jones\, the addition of keys and vocalist\, Virginia Kettle has helped create a new identity\, purpose and spirit\, in their music. She took little persuading to trade in her solo singer-songwriter past for a future in the band.
