SUMMARY:SOLD OUT - Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horrors @ Music Room 31/10/22
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT\n\n\n\nNosferatu (1922) is arguably the film that gave birth to the horror genre. Notable as the first cinematic interpretation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula\, its combination of expressionistic acting and unforgettable images render it just as powerful and unsettling today as when it first thrilled cinema goers 100 years ago. \n\n\n\nChris Green’s new score was originally commissioned by English Heritage for a live screening of the film at Dracula’s spiritual home of Whitby Abbey. The music is a haunting blend of electronic and acoustic instruments performed live by the composer and\, combined with director F.W. Murnau’s iconic images\, makes for a genuinely remarkable and unique cinematic experience. \n\n\n\nBorn into a musical family in Coventry\, Chris Green began playing guitar at the age of eight and piano from the age of nine\, and plays most things with fretted strings or keys. Largely self-taught\, he’s worked in a variety of musical genres including folk\, theatre and early music. He’s a regular musician at Shakespeare’s Globe and was also one of the musicians on BBC’s Poldark. He also writes and composes and in 2018\, he released his first solo album Switched-On Playford\, which fuses 17th century dance music with electronica\, using a blend of early instruments\, synths and loops.

SUMMARY:Keep The Music Going ft The Mono LPs and Rob Jones & Rob White @ Pierre Griffes 26/10/22
DESCRIPTION:Rob Gough Promotions in association with Liverpool Acoustic are proud to announce that Keep The Music Going will take place on 26thth October at Pierre Griffes on Allerton Road. \n\n\n\nFeaturing in this show are the superb Mono LPs and the brilliant acoustic-duo\, Rob Jones and Rob White. \n\n\n\nChampioned by BBC Introducing and 6 Music\, The Mono LPs are considered one of Liverpool’s brightest prospects and a genre-bending tour de force. \n\n\n\nThe Mono LPs showcase juicy guitar riffs\, intricate T-Rex like swooping strings\, sexually charged lyrics and an uncompromising energy. The offbeat four-piece have established themselves as a group of major significance on the scene through their impressive work ethic and a dedication to an ever-expanding fan base of ‘Monettes’. \n\n\n\nTheir latest album\, Shuffle/Play was released in 2021 via Fretsore Records to critical acclaim and showcases a deliberately diverse range of skill and genre. The album features the latest single “Think About It”\, fan-favourite “Hell\, Save My Soul” and playlist-supported “Love Me”. \n\n\n\nThe group is fronted by singer-songwriter Ste Reid and cellist Vicky Reid\, who has performed with both The View and Blood Red Shoes on their last albums. You’ll feel the cello riffing its way through a barrage of sound. This is a rock ‘n’ roll band at full pelt. Grounded in making music they love and loving the music they make\, The Mono LPs are riding high and continue to engage and surprise their ever-growing fanbase. \n\n\n\n“The Mono LP’s try their hand at psychedelia\, jazz\, 70s rock\, The Beatles\, electronica and 80s Britpop\, and never let the standards slip. It’s a fun album – just remember to put it on shuffle and surprise yourself over and over again.”4/5 The Daily Express \n\n\n\n“Catchy and well written\, with great use of strings and electronica melded throughout.”Wall of Sound \n\n\n\n“Shuffle/Play is not only a phenomenal album\, but it is one that charms and makes you want to forget everything else you have lined up that day\, for what else is there to do but spend time with the best.”5/5 Liverpool Sound And Vision \n\n\n\n“A very enjoyable album and an array of (deliberately) differing moods.”Rocking Magpie \n\n\n\nBorn and based in Liverpool\, Rob Jones (vocal/acoustic guitar) & Rob White (vocal) have been harmonising since meeting at school. Over the ensuing years\, Rob & Rob have played a lot of gigs\, recorded a few songs\, squeezed in the odd radio broadcast and have become regulars at Liverpool Acoustic events. Rob Jones’ songs attempt to deal with the ups and downs of life\, Lark Lane\, public transport\, heartbreak\, The Monkees and the Mersey rain-sometimes all in the same song. Reviewers have praised the well-crafted songs and the tight harmonies and have detected the influence of\, amongst others\, Simon & Garfunkel and The Beatles. \n\n\n\n“The harmonies\, of which Simon and Garfunkel would be proud\, are beautiful but with a generous sprinkle of Merseyside realism; the effect of the combination is just something to behold.”IAN D. HALL (Liverpool Sound & Vision) \n\n\n\nTickets are just £5 and available on Eventbrite. \n\n\n\nBrought to you by Rob Gough Promotions\, in association with Liverpool Acoustic\, Keep The Music Going\, will be a series of shows all about music and supporting up and coming songwriters and musicians whilst also featuring established performers along the way. \n\n\n\nDuring this series of gigs every effort will be made to keep ticket prices affordable so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy live music. \n\n\n\nThis session takes place on Wednesday 12th October 2022 at Pierre Griffes Cafe Bar & Bistro on Allerton Road in Liverpool. SUMMARY:Elfin Bow\, Little Sparrow and Daria Kulesh @ Music Room 26/02/22
DESCRIPTION:NEW DATE\n\n\n\nElfin Bow\, Little Sparrow and Daria Kulesh\n\n\n\nLiverpool Acoustic presents three songwriters who share a rare musical synergy and come together for the first time to showcase their magical songs and stories. Elfin Bow\, Little Sparrow and Daria Kulesh\, all three skilled songwriters and captivating performers\, will take to the stage in the style of a song-writers circle. \n\n\n\nDescribed by Shindig Magazine as\, ‘lyrically astute and melodically inventive\,’ Elfin Bow’s pastoral pysch-folk music is deeply rooted in the life and nature that surrounds her. Her stories and songs\, played on piano\, guitar\, mandolin and banjo\, weave a tapestry that combine mysterious characters\, myths and legends\, with the heartache and adventure of real life. \n\n\n\nAs captivating to watch as she is to listen to\, Manchester singer-songwriter\, Little Sparrow’s beautifully emotive use of expression mirrors the sincerity of her delivery. Her delicately crafted songs draw on influences as diverse as Kate Bush\, All About Eve and PJ Harvey\, woven into the colourful tapestry of her music\, often with a mysterious fairytale-like quality. \n\n\n\nDaria Kulesh has been described by Danny Farragher (Folk All) as ‘the voice of fairy tales\, being able to create the enthrallment of the faerie realm and equally bring terror as the evil queen whose very words could chill your blood and capture your soul’. A folk award nominee\, her Russian and Ingush roots are reflected in her music\, intertwined with multicultural influences she has experienced on her turbulent and exciting journey through life. \n\n\n\nTickets are £12 (£15 Premium) available from the Liverpool Phil box office. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.

SUMMARY:Liverpool Acoustic presents Skylon plus support @ LEAF 27/11/21
DESCRIPTION:Skylon – a musical collaboration between Dorothy Bird\, paulfcook\, Luke Moore \n\n\n\nSkylon is the answer to the question ‘would three musicians that enjoy working together ever accidentally form a band’? The project began when paulfcook (guitar\, backing vocals) invited Luke and Dorothy to collaborate on a piece he had written the music for. Not long after\, the trio had written and recorded their debut EP\, each working remotely from home studios in Berlin\, London and Liverpool. Skylon debuted their live set in August in London and are now looking forward to launching their new EP. Skylon have had airplay on BBC Introducing\, Exile FM and Mersey Radio. \n\n\n\nhttps://skylonband.com/ \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nKatie NicholasAward winning singer-songwriter Katie Nicholas quickly gained recognition for her self-produced music videos as well as captivating audiences on the live stage with her intricate lyrics and skilful guitar cross-picking. In 2015 Katie released her first album “Dizzy”. The independent campaign generated such a buzz that her personalised pre-order gifts sold out on first batch! More recently\, Katie visited Abbey Road Studios and Blackbird Studio in Nashville TN to begin recording her second album. Upon returning Katie decided it was time to try her hand at self-producing\, using the studio stems in a way where she could achieve the sound she sought after. With a recent feature on the SSL 2 advert\, and an artist endorsement with Aston Microphones and Auden Guitars\, there is plenty of interest buzzing around her musical projects and online content. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nMike RyanMike Ryan is a singer/songwriter from Wirral. He writes and records at home on to 8-track. Mike released his debut album ‘Night’ in January\, containing the single ‘I’m With You’\, which was produced by Bill Ryder-Jones. His self-titled second album is out this October on Meadows Records. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nNicola Hardman“There is something about Nic that draws you in\, captivating you\, leaving you wanting to hear more’’ Buz MagazineNicola Hardman is a theatrical alt-pop singer-songwriter originally from Liverpool\, noted by reviewers Get Into This for her ‘kooky avant-garde-ness..”Hardman released her new album ‘Celestial Firebird’ March 2020 featuring her single ‘Be Kind’ which has already received air play on local radio stations with a live show for the IWD Showcase at women’s educational unit Blackburne House Liverpool curated by women’s performance activist group We Want Women. Previously\, she released her song ‘Forever (and ever)’ in Nov 2018 which also features on ‘Celestial Firebird’. “Hardman seems to break some new and unexpected ground – if that is even possible for an artist this versatile.” (Liverpool Acoustic) \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nRachel BurnettRachel is an 18 year old singer-songwriter from Liverpool\, and studies singing\, composition and saxophone at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music. SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Woody Guthrie and "Old Man Trump"\, with Will Kaufman @ Music Room 01/11/20
DESCRIPTION:Will Kaufman\n\n\n\n<< URGENT UPDATE >>\n\n\n\nUnfortunately\, due to current conditions this show has been cancelled and won’t be rescheduled.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn December 1950\, Woody Guthrie moved his family into a new apartment in Brooklyn’s Beach Haven. His new landlord\, it turned out\, was none other than Fred Trump\, father of the US president.Over 60 years later\, Donald Trump would proclaim on the campaign trail: “My legacy is my father’s legacy.” It was\, among other things\, a legacy of corruption and race-hatred. Woody Guthrie soon found this out. As he wrote: I suppose Old Man Trump knows Just how much Racial Hate he stirred up In the bloodpot of human hearts When he drawed That color line Here at his Eighteen hundred family project \n\n\n\nWill Kaufman – singer\, multi-instrumentalist\, and Professor of American Studies – is recognised as the world’s leading authority on Woody Guthrie. He is the author of Woody Guthrie\, American Radical (2011)\, Woody Guthrie’s Modern World Blues (2017)\, and Mapping Woody Guthrie (2019). \n\n\n\nIn 2014\, Will discovered\, buried in the archives\, Guthrie’s previously unpublished song lyrics and other writings condemning Fred Trump’s racism. He has now turned these discoveries into a new music and spoken-word presentation\, following on from his celebrated shows\, Woody Guthrie: Hard Times and Hard Travelin’ and Woody Guthrie: The Long Road to Peekskill.Woody Guthrie and “Old Man Trump” brings to life all the anger and contempt that Guthrie felt for those in power who will deny justice to their fellow human beings on account of the color of their skin. \n\n\n\nAgainst the backdrop of Guthrie’s racial awakening and emergent activism\, Will introduces such previously unheard songs as “Trump Made a Tramp Out of Me” and “Beach Haven Ain’t My Home\,” along with a host of other Guthrie songs about racial injustice and struggle. All in all\, we hear Woody Guthrie speaking and singing from beyond the grave\, warning us about the dangers of ignoring and repeating history. \n\n\n\nListen up all you Jim Crow fascists and you race-hate mongers\, too:Will Kaufman is a-comin’ and he’s got his eye on you.Won’t brake for no excuses\, won’t stand no messin’ around\,Your bigot ways can’t save you ’cause Will Kaufman’s gonna run you down.– Ry Cooder \n\n\n\nNo one can understand the American people without listening to Woody Guthrie. Will Kaufman’s doing important work here. – Tom Paxton \n\n\n\nI thank Will Kaufman for introducing a new generation of Europeans to “the other America.” It’s a wonderful job he’s doing. – Pete Seeger \n\n\n\nWill does it all so well! – Steve Tilston \n\n\n\nWill presents this exhilarating show in the fastest hour and a half you are likely to witness when you consider the breadth and depth of his subject. He performs Woody’s songs with great skill and understanding\, playing the guitar\, banjo and fiddle with enviable panache and brio. His presentation is accomplished with great musicality\, wit\, honesty\, and compassion. – Ralph McTell \n\n\n\nI so appreciate all of your efforts to take his legacy further. Who knows where he’ll end up! – Nora Guthrie

SUMMARY:Elfin Bow\, Little Sparrow and Daria Kulesh @ Liverpool Acoustic Facebook page 20/06/20
DESCRIPTION:Elfin Bow\, Little Sparrow and Daria Kulesh\n\n\n\n20th June should have seen Elfin Bow\, Little Sparrow and Daria Kulesh at the Music Room. Since this has been rescheduled for 24th April 2021 we thought we’d mark the original date with an online show. \n\n\n\nStarting at 7pm on Liverpool Acoustic’s Facebook page\, the show will be introduced by Chris Birchall from Ruthin All-styles Music Club. \n\n\n\nViewing is free\, and there will be a tip jar to help out the artists.\n\n\n\nYou can make a donation at paypal.me/itsafrogslife\n\n\n\nLiverpool Acoustic presents three songwriters who share a rare musical synergy and come together for the first time to showcase their magical songs and stories.
