SUMMARY:3PM SHOW - The Bends: A Tribute to Radiohead @ Music Room 01/11/24
DESCRIPTION:Mike Ryan and The Street Spirit Band celebrate the 30th anniversary of Radiohead’s iconic album\, The Bends. \n\n\n\nReleased in 1995\, and featuring classic tracks like ‘High and Dry’\, ‘Fake Plastic Trees’\, ‘Just’ and ‘Street Spirit (Fade Out)’\, The Bends is regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time – the record that saw Radiohead find their voice and paved the way for them to become one of the most important bands the UK has ever produced. Combining anthemic choruses\, gentle melodic beauty and brooding intensity\, it is quite simply a masterpiece. \n\n\n\nFaithfully recreating the album’s powerful and majestic balladry\, with arrangements that capture the bruised grandeur of Radiohead’s original recordings\, the concert promises to be an unforgettable experience. \n\n\n\nMike Ryan is a Wirral-based singer-songwriter and two-time winner of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge Audience Favourite Award. After selling out two shows last year with his remarkable tribute to Nirvana’s Unplugged in New York\, this new show is not to be missed. \n\n\n\nTickets for this event include a £1 venue restoration levy\, included in the ticket price. This fee supports building investment at the Grade II-listed Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. \n\n\n\nTHIS IS THE 3PM SHOW. THERE’S ALSO A LATER SHOW AT 8PM.

SUMMARY:Mark Radcliffe & David Boardman @ Music Room 04/11/25
DESCRIPTION:<< TICKETS LIMITED >>\n\n\n\nMark and David are singing\, songwriting\, strumming\, and swigging buddies from the badlands of the Cheshire Plain. \n\n\n\nRadcliffe has been on BBC national radio since the early nineties and currently hosts the Radio 2 Folk Show and weekend breakfast on 6Music. He is also the author of five bestselling books\, the latest being Crossroads – In Search Of The Moments That Changed Music.  Previously a member of folk-rock bands The Family Mahone and Galleon Blast\, he is currently one half of electronic duo UNE and drummer and lyricist for Americana band Fine Lines whose lead singer and guitarist is….. \n\n\n\nDavid Boardman. A consummate guitarist and guitar teacher\, David cut his teeth on the rock circuit with Darktown Jubilee touring not only the UK but also North America and Canada. A gifted visual artist\, Boardman met Radcliffe in their hometown of Knutsford where their writing partnership soon began to flourish. \n\n\n\nTheir act is one of classic simplicity: two voices\, two guitars\, some great original songs\, the odd carefully chosen cover and the occasional rambling anecdote. They have recently recorded their debut duo album First Light and have somehow managed to hit the sweet spot between David wanting to do dozens of takes before carefully selecting the best bits and Mark thinking it was alright the first time!

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT - 60 Years of Help! and Rubber Soul @ Music Room 02/12/25
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT\n\n\n\nOn Tuesday 2nd December 2025\, Roxanne de Bastion\, Thom Morecroft and friends take to the Music Room stage to celebrate 60 years of Help! and Rubber Soul — two landmark albums from the Beatles’ golden era. \n\n\n\nAs with previous shows\, this won’t be a night of straight-up covers. Expect bold reinterpretations\, inventive reimaginings\, and heartfelt homages to the Fab Four’s fifth and sixth studio albums — all delivered with flair\, passion\, and a touch of Mersey magic. \n\n\n\nJoining Roxanne and Thom will be a stellar lineup of special guests from across Merseyside and beyond\, each bringing their own twist to these timeless tracks. \n\n\n\nThe story so far…\n\n\n\nIt all began in 2016\, when a collective of local\, national\, and international musicians — led by Roxanne de Bastion and Thom Morecroft — gathered at LEAF on Bold Street to mark 50 years of Revolver. The following year\, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band received the same loving treatment\, with The Ragamuffins stepping in as house band. In 2018\, they tackled the entire White Album from start to finish\, and in 2019\, celebrated 50 years of Abbey Road. Sadly\, plans for Let It Be in 2020 were shelved due to the pandemic. \n\n\n\nHaving reached the end of the Beatles’ studio catalogue\, the gang rewound the tape in March 2023 to honour 60 years of Please Please Me and With The Beatles\, followed by A Hard Day’s Night and Beatles For Sale in December 2024. \n\n\n\nAnd now\, the journey continues — with Help! and Rubber Soul taking centre stage. It’s going to be Fab! \n\n\n\nEvent Details: \n\n\n\nWhat: 60 Years of Help! and Rubber Soul \n\n\n\nWho: Roxanne de Bastion\, Thom Morecroft and guests \n\n\n\nWhen: Tuesday 2nd December 2025\, \n\n\n\nWhere: Music Room\, Sugnall Street \n\n\n\nTickets: £18 | £15 | £13 from liverpoolphil.com

SUMMARY:3PM SHOW - Peter's Field @ Music Room 15/03/26
DESCRIPTION:NOTE – This is a 3pm show. \n\n\n\nPeter’s Field is an epic musical chronicle that tells the story of one of the most important days in working class history. \n\n\n\nOn 16th August 1819\, 60\,000 people gathered in the centre of Manchester. Many had walked miles to be there from all across Lancashire. They went to hear the famous radical speaker Henry ‘Orator’ Hunt who called for working people to have the vote. They were unarmed and peaceful. \n\n\n\nLocal magistrates sent in the yeomanry cavalry and 15th Hussars to disperse the crowd and arrest Hunt. At least 18 people were killed and hundreds injured in the murderous scenes that followed. Women were deliberately targeted. It became known as the Peterloo Massacre. \n\n\n\nThe magistrates and military were completely exonerated and it would be 100 years until working people had the vote. \n\n\n\nPeter’s Field is born from years of research and comprises 19 original songs by Sean Cooney (The Yung’uns) performed with Rowan Rheingans (The Rheingans Sisters) and Sam Carter\, alongside a compelling spoken narrative derived from hundreds of eyewitness accounts. \n\n\n\nWhat people have said so far: \n\n\n\n“Peter’s Field is an astonishing work…a compelling\, passionate performance\, radio-ballad-like\, evocative and haunting.” Songlines \n\n\n\n“Peter’s Field is the most powerful evocation yet of Peterloo.” \n\n\n\nProfessor Robert Poole\, author of Peterloo: the English Uprising \n\n\n\nSocial media reactions to the premiere at FolkEast 16th August 2024 \n\n\n\n“It was amazing and left me in tears.” \n\n\n\n“What a wonderful and inspirational performance…we were totally mesmerised by your brilliant account of this tragic story; and historic event beautifully told in words\, songs and music. Absolutely fantastic!” \n\n\n\n“It was magnificent. A moment in folk history. Fantastic.” \n\n\n\n“Exceptional… one of the finest performances ever seen at the event.” \n\n\n\nDue to unforseen circumstances the 8pm show has been cancelled. Ticket holders can transfer to this 3pm matinee or claim a full refund. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

DESCRIPTION:Due to illness this show has unfortunately been cancelled. If you have a ticket please contact the Box Office for a full refund. \n\n\n\nVisions of Liege & Lief – A Tribute to Fairport Convention\n\n\n\nAfter dazzling audiences with their sold-out shows of Carole King’s Tapestry and a raucous tribute to Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush last June\, Visions of Albion return to the Music Room for a third time – this time celebrating another album whose influence is heard and felt far and wide. \n\n\n\nVisions of Albion are harking back to their roots with a tribute to an album as iconic as it was groundbreaking: Fairport Convention’s 1969 magnum opus Liege & Lief. Widely regarded as the record that introduced the world to Britain’s emerging electric-folk movement\, Liege & Lief endures as a milestone that challenged and changed the very boundaries of what was possible in popular music. \n\n\n\nAlongside the pioneering guitar work of Richard Thompson and the band’s inventive reworkings of traditional British folk songs\, Liege & Lief is also remembered for the spellbinding voice of Sandy Denny\, whose timeless performances helped define the sound of an entire era. \n\n\n\nVisions of Albion will be joined by a full live band\, bringing to life the passion\, power\, and poetry of this landmark album an enduring celebration of tradition\, reinvention\, and the spirit of folk music itself. \n\n\n\nSupport is from Andy Connally.

Together\, they honour the spirit of the original while delivering a live experience that feels immediate\, powerful\, and deeply human. \n\n\n\nFor fans of Radiohead\, for lovers of iconic albums performed in full\, and for anyone who wants to experience OK Computer as a living\, breathing piece of music\, this is an unmissable show in the intimate surroundings of the Music Room. \n\n\n\nTHIS IS THE 8PM EVENING SHOW – THERE’S A MATINEE AT 3PM
