DESCRIPTION:Are you a songwriter?\nCan you write a new song based on a theme?\nCan you write that song within 24 hours?\nIf the answer to all these questions is ‘yes’ then the Liverpool Acoustic 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge is made for you! \nAfter a successful launch in 2018\, Liverpool Acoustic is once again teaming up with Threshold Festival to introduce a unique challenge to the region’s songwriters. \nA theme will be unveiled at 7.00pm on Tuesday 26th March on the Songwriting Challenge website and across social media channels. Songwriters will then have 24 hours to write a new song that fits the theme. \nThe first 20 songwriters to complete their song and register it will be invited to perform it at the Showcase Event on Saturday 30th March at 24 Kitchen Street as part of Threshold Festival. \nThe Showcase Event runs from 1pm to 4pm and is free entry. \nEntries to the 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge are limited\, and performance places at the Showcase Event will be allocated in the order registered. \nOne theme.\nOne new song.\n24 hours.\n\nReady? DESCRIPTION:Finalists announced for Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2018 Showcase Final\n\n\nTen talented local songwriters have won a place at the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2018 Showcase Final taking place on Saturday 12th January 2019 at LEAF on Bold St. \nSongwriters submitted brand new songs inspired by works of art on display across the Liverpool City Region during the October entry period. Judges Stephen Langstaff\, Kaya Herstad Carney\, Robert Vincent\, Jon Lawton and Luke Moore listened to all of the entries and gave each one a score based on lyrics\, melody\, composition and originality. The points from the judges were added together and the songwriters with the ten highest scores were awarded a place at the Showcase Final. \nThe finalists are (in alphabetical order):- \n\nAlison Benson – The Crystal Ball\nChris Callander – In My Arms\nEd Jones – Those Lonely Tears\nGuy Called Greg – Morning Light\nIain Paterson – All At Sea\nJohn Jenkins – What We Did (We Did For Love)\nLydiah – Siren Call\nRachael Jean Harris – Pegasus\nStuart Todd – After Dark\nVisions of Albion – The Advice of Mrs Mounter\n\n\n[divider] [/divider]\n\nEach of the ten finalists will perform their song at the Showcase Final with an image of the work of art that inspired it projected onto the big screen for everyone to see. DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon and Songwriting Challenge 2018 launch @ 81 Renshaw 01/09/18\n \nThe Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon takes place on the first Saturday of every month at 81 Renshaw. \nThis month the event on Saturday 1st September also marks the launch of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2018. For more information about the Challenge and how to enter visit challenge.liverpoolacoustic.co.uk \nThe afternoon runs from 1.00pm to 4.00pm and features two booked guests with 20 minute sets sandwiched between lovely layers of open mic performers. \nSlots for the open mic are on a first come\, first served basis\, with sign up available from 12.30pm\, half an hour before the event starts. \nPerforming for us this month: \n\nLydia Higham (Songwriting Challenge 2018 winner)\n(guest TBC)\n\nThe event is hosted by Derek King and Stuart Todd \nAs always this event is free. DESCRIPTION:The launch event for the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2016 will take place on Saturday 10th September.\n\n\n \n\n\nThe View Two Gallery on Mathew Street will be open to the public as normal from 12pm to 5pm.\n\n\n \n\n\nLiverpool Acoustic will be hosting the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon from 1pm to 4pm. During this time songwriters are invited to come along and have a look around the View Two Gallery\, one of Liverpool’s best independent art galleries.\n\n\n \n\n\nTo enter the challenge a songwriter will choose a piece of art in the gallery that inspires them. The songwriter then has a month in which to write a new song inspired by their chosen work of art and submit it as a recording along with a copy of the lyrics and a photo of the work of art. The judges will then choose 10 songs to go through to the Showcase Final on Friday 25th November 2016.\n\n\n \n\n\nIf for any reason a songwriter wishes to enter the challenge but cannot attend on Saturday 10th September then they can visit the View Two Gallery at any time during normal opening hours. Details of the opening days and hours can be found at viewtwogallery.co.uk\n\n\n \n\n\nThe Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon returns to the View Two Gallery for the final time this year on the same afternoon\, Saturday 10th September.\n\n\n \n\n\nAs always\, open mic slots will be available to request beforehand on the facebook event page\, or on the day if there are any spaces left.\n\n\n \n\n\nThe afternoon also sees the launch of the single Someday We’ll See Better Days by the Liverpool Acoustic Collective.
