SUMMARY:Phil Hare @ 81 Renshaw 05/10/18
DESCRIPTION:Phil Hare is an acoustic guitarist\, troubadour\, and mentor. \nInspired to buy an acoustic guitar in 1977 after discovering the words and music of Roy Harper\, John Martyn and Mike Chapman\, Phil started writing folksy ballads and songs and doing ‘floor spots’ around the many folk clubs in his native Wirral and neighbouring Liverpool. Since then Phil has built a successful career playing at festivals\, clubs and venues across the country\, and has an extensive catalogue of recorded music. His distinctive and accomplished guitar style means Phil is in great demand as a solo performer\, band member (he was in local folk rock band Full House)\, and guest musician. \nDescribed as an all-purpose acoustic guitar hero and singer-songwriter Phil\, who now lives in the Cambridgeshire town of March\, will be making a rare and highly anticipated return to Liverpool in October. Expect fine songs\, exceptional musicianship\, and a possible surprise guest or two! \n \nSupport on the night is from local singer-songwriter Marc Vormawah. Previously with Liverpool band Personal Column\, Marc is currently gaining new fans with his witty\, lyrical songs played in his own inimitable style. \n\nUnfortunately Katie Nicholas is not able to join us but her place will be amply filled by Charlie McKeon. A master of stringed instruments – guitar\, banjo and waldzither\, to name a few – Charlie is a folk enthusiast who’s equally at home with traditional and contemporary music. \nDoors open at 7.30pm and the music starts at 8.00pm. We finish by 11.00pm at the latest. \nTickets are £8 in advance both online and in person from:- \n\n81Renshaw.co.uk\nticketquarter.co.uk/online/liverpoolacoustic\nEcho Arena box office\n\n[divider] [/divider] \nPraise for Phil Hare  \n‘A maverick guitar virtuoso with a neat line in social comment’ (Time Out) \n‘If you get a chance to see Phil Hare\, take it!’ (Folk North West)

SUMMARY:Liverpool Acoustic Live 9th Birthday featuring Lee Southall (The Coral) 02/02/18
DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic Live celebrates its 9th birthday (and its first in new venue 81 Renshaw) by welcoming former member of The Coral Lee Southall for a very special\, intimate concert. \nLee Southall brings a wealth of experience to his solo performances. As a founder member of The Coral\, he’s already enjoyed a career that spans seven albums. His solo work hinges on finely crafted songwriting and virtuoso acoustic guitar. Folk\, pop\, blues and country thread their way through songs that take inspiration from the melodic intricacy of Bert Jansch and Davey Graham\, through to the raw sparseness of Karen Dalton and Townes Van Zandt. \nHis debut solo album ‘Iron in the Fire’ was released April 2017 on Wonderfulsound. \nAlso on the bill will be the winner of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2017 (announced on 13th January). \nTickets are £8 in advance (and on the door if any remain). \n \nDoors open at 7.30pm and the music starts at 8.00pm. \n

SUMMARY:Liverpool Acoustic Live - Tom George album launch 01/09/17
DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic are proud to welcome Tom George as he launches his brand new album Gravity at 81 Renshaw on Friday 1st September. \nTom George is a Liverpool creative who is impossible to pigeonhole. In twenty years in his adopted city he has embarked on countless projects across many art forms but always returns to his primary passion\, music-making. As a guitarist and singer\, Tom usually performs solo or with sparse backing\, but the recordings he creates are richly layered and melodic. Tom’s previous album Postcards was praised by Liverpool Acoustic as “both eclectic and cohesive” and he has taken his time creating a worthy follow-up album\, Gravity. At the launch Tom will be debuting songs from the album alongside his more familiar tunes such as Drifter and Womankind. \nSupporting Tom on the night will be Evie Moran\, a 15 year old singer songwriter from Liverpool UK who has already impressed some significant music industry figures in a small space of time. She has performed at The Adlib Industry Showcase at the Arts Centre in April 2017\, Merseyrail Sound Station\, Rocking on the River sessions at the Pier Head and is due to appear at Eppiefest at the former home of Brian Epstein on 27th August. \nCompleting the lineup is Liverpool Acoustic’s Tuesday Tunes co-host Pete King who is celebrating his performance at Tom’s Gravity album launch with the release of a brand new song coincidentally called Weightless. \nSo why not kick off a brand new month with exciting new music and an exiting young performer in Liverpool Acoustic’s lovely new venue? \nLiverpool Acoustic Live\nTOM GEORGE – ‘GRAVITY’ ALBUM LAUNCH\nEvie Moran\nPete KingFriday 1st September 2017\n7.30pm doors\, 8.00pm start \n\n\n\nTickets £6 advance\, £7 on the door\nwegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic\nCheck out our loyalty card scheme81 Renshaw\n81 Renshaw Street\, Liverpool L1 2SJ

SUMMARY:Liverpool Acoustic Live - Derek King album launch
DESCRIPTION:Friday 17th June at Mathew Street’s View Two Gallery marks the release of Liverpool singer-songwriter Derek King’s second solo album\, entitled “Seasons”. \nDerek’s first album\, “Sometimes” (released in the Spring of 2015) was a collection of timeless songs all about the ups and downs of everyday life\, about sometimes winning and sometimes losing. In “Seasons” he continues to explore similar themes\, about how\, as the Earth turns\, the changing of the seasons brings us constant change. Change can of course be predictable\, but often we have little or no control over our fate. “Across the Strings” is a story about two strangers sharing a moment in time that could have perhaps have been more\, “Summer Breeze” is all about a special someone entering one’s life as randomly and unexpectedly as a breeze\, while “Perfect Days” tells us how to be happy while being broke. \nThis collection again contains two songs that were recent entries to the annual Liverpool Acoustic songwriting challenge\, “Reflections” being about a man looking in the mirror and reflecting upon his life\, and “Sally”\, the story of a girl growing up who\, seeing so much unfairness and unhappiness in the world\, continually asks “why” and vows to campaign against injustice. \nSupport on the launch night will be provided by wonderful pianist and vocalist Nicola Hardman\, plus Northern Irish folk-rock band Gary Maginnis and the Like. \n \nTickets are available in advance for £5.00 (+50p booking fee) from wegottickets.com/liverpoolacoustic or for £6 on the door on the night. \nDoors open at our regular time of 7.45pm with the music starting at 8.15pm sharp. \nPlease note this is on the third Friday of the month\, not our regular fourth Friday. \nPlease note\, the performance space at the View Two Gallery is on the third floor and there is no disabled access. \nAll of our future live events can be found at liverpoolacoustic.co.uk/events
