SUMMARY:Mike Ryan with support from Igloo Hearts @ Prohibition Recording Studios 13/03/26
DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Acoustic is proud to launch its new partnership with Prohibition Recording Studios with an intimate double?bill featuring award?winning Wirral songwriter Mike Ryan and North Wales folk?pop duo Igloo Hearts. The show takes place on Friday 13 March in Prohibition’s beautifully restored inner?city studio space — a venue designed for deep listening\, rich acoustics\, and meaningful connection between artists and audience. \n\n\n\nA Rising Voice in Indie-Folk: Mike Ryan\n\n\n\nMike Ryan has become one of the region’s most distinctive songwriters\, blending indie?folk and alt?pop with a lyrical honesty that has earned him critical acclaim across five albums. His debut single I’m With You — produced by Bill Ryder?Jones — marked the start of a steady rise that has seen him perform at the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room\, Future Yard\, and festivals across Merseyside. A two?time winner of the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge Audience Favourite Award\, Mike returns with new material including his latest single The Lemon Trees by the Sea\, released on 471 Records. \n\n\n\nIgloo Hearts: Cinematic Folk-Pop from North Wales\n\n\n\nOpening the night are Igloo Hearts\, whose cinematic piano lines\, rich harmonies\, and emotionally charged songwriting have drawn comparisons to Jesca Hoop and Radiohead. Backed by BBC Introducing\, their debut album Eyes Closed Against the Sun is already turning heads for its depth and atmosphere. Their live performances — including supports for Cerys Hafana\, Michele Stodart\, and BBC Radio’s Mark Radcliffe — have cemented them as one of the most exciting emerging acts in the region. \n\n\n\nA True Listening-Room Experience\n\n\n\nThis new series from Liverpool Acoustic and Prohibition champions original songwriting in a space built for clarity\, intimacy\, and respect for the craft. With only 45 seats\, audiences are placed at the heart of the performance\, free from distractions and immersed in the stories behind the songs. To preserve this atmosphere\, Prohibition operates a minimal-talking\, no-phones policy during sets. \n\n\n\nEvent Details\n\n\n\n\nWhat: Mike Ryan\, with support from Igloo Hearts\n\n\n\nWhen: Friday 13 March 2026\n\n\n\nWhere: Prohibition Recording Studios\, 24a Arrad Street\, L7 7BP\n\n\n\nTime: 7.00pm\n\n\n\nTickets: £11.50 (inc. fees) from Prohibition – advance booking only\n\n\n\n\nA large proportion of ticket revenue goes directly to the artists\, supporting the region’s vibrant independent music community.

SUMMARY:3PM SHOW - Peter's Field @ Music Room 15/03/26
DESCRIPTION:NOTE – This is a 3pm show. \n\n\n\nPeter’s Field is an epic musical chronicle that tells the story of one of the most important days in working class history. \n\n\n\nOn 16th August 1819\, 60\,000 people gathered in the centre of Manchester. Many had walked miles to be there from all across Lancashire. They went to hear the famous radical speaker Henry ‘Orator’ Hunt who called for working people to have the vote. They were unarmed and peaceful. \n\n\n\nLocal magistrates sent in the yeomanry cavalry and 15th Hussars to disperse the crowd and arrest Hunt. At least 18 people were killed and hundreds injured in the murderous scenes that followed. Women were deliberately targeted. It became known as the Peterloo Massacre. \n\n\n\nThe magistrates and military were completely exonerated and it would be 100 years until working people had the vote. \n\n\n\nPeter’s Field is born from years of research and comprises 19 original songs by Sean Cooney (The Yung’uns) performed with Rowan Rheingans (The Rheingans Sisters) and Sam Carter\, alongside a compelling spoken narrative derived from hundreds of eyewitness accounts. \n\n\n\nWhat people have said so far: \n\n\n\n“Peter’s Field is an astonishing work…a compelling\, passionate performance\, radio-ballad-like\, evocative and haunting.” Songlines \n\n\n\n“Peter’s Field is the most powerful evocation yet of Peterloo.” \n\n\n\nProfessor Robert Poole\, author of Peterloo: the English Uprising \n\n\n\nSocial media reactions to the premiere at FolkEast 16th August 2024 \n\n\n\n“It was amazing and left me in tears.” \n\n\n\n“What a wonderful and inspirational performance…we were totally mesmerised by your brilliant account of this tragic story; and historic event beautifully told in words\, songs and music. Absolutely fantastic!” \n\n\n\n“It was magnificent. A moment in folk history. Fantastic.” \n\n\n\n“Exceptional… one of the finest performances ever seen at the event.” \n\n\n\nDue to unforseen circumstances the 8pm show has been cancelled. Ticket holders can transfer to this 3pm matinee or claim a full refund. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
