DESCRIPTION:Join us at 81 Renshaw on the afternoon of Saturday 5th January 2019 as we attempt to Beat the January Blues after the Christmas and New Year festivities. \nOur featured guest is bluesman Lee Harrison. He’ll be sandwiched between lovely layers of open mic performers who this month are encouraged to play at least one blues song (original or cover) at part of their three song set. \nThis is the last Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon before our winter break. \nThe event is hosted by Derek King\, Stuart Todd\, and Graham Holland. \nAs always this event is free. We take a collection which is divided between the booked acts and hosts\, but there’s absolutely no obligation to make a donation. \nThis event takes place in the performance room at the back of the venue\, and is open to all ages. So why not come along\, grab some lunch and a drink from the front bar\, and enjoy the music? \nSlots for the open mic will be reserved from 12.30pm on the day only on a first come\, first served basis – once they’re gone they’re gone!

DESCRIPTION:Finalists announced for Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2018 Showcase Final\n\n\nTen talented local songwriters have won a place at the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Challenge 2018 Showcase Final taking place on Saturday 12th January 2019 at LEAF on Bold St. \nSongwriters submitted brand new songs inspired by works of art on display across the Liverpool City Region during the October entry period. Judges Stephen Langstaff\, Kaya Herstad Carney\, Robert Vincent\, Jon Lawton and Luke Moore listened to all of the entries and gave each one a score based on lyrics\, melody\, composition and originality. The points from the judges were added together and the songwriters with the ten highest scores were awarded a place at the Showcase Final. \nThe finalists are (in alphabetical order):- \n\nAlison Benson – The Crystal Ball\nChris Callander – In My Arms\nEd Jones – Those Lonely Tears\nGuy Called Greg – Morning Light\nIain Paterson – All At Sea\nJohn Jenkins – What We Did (We Did For Love)\nLydiah – Siren Call\nRachael Jean Harris – Pegasus\nStuart Todd – After Dark\nVisions of Albion – The Advice of Mrs Mounter\n\n\n[divider] [/divider]\n\nEach of the ten finalists will perform their song at the Showcase Final with an image of the work of art that inspired it projected onto the big screen for everyone to see.
