Liverpool Acoustic and Glasswerk present incomparable, virtuoso guitarist Jon Gomm.
Returning to Liverpool for the first time since 2015, Jon will be performing at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall’s Music Room on Saturday 27th May 2017.
‘Once you get over the jaw dropping manoeuvres and technique, you will be rewarded with some spectacularly beautiful songs.’ Blues & Soul Magazine perfectly describe how you feel when witnessing Jon Gomm play.
The acoustic singer-songwriter with a revolutionary virtuoso guitar style is exceptional. He uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and twisting melodies all at the same time. His emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead.
Live, he combines deeply personal performances and a natural wit, with a once seen, never forgotten two-handed guitar style, both physical and complex, producing sounds you can barely believe are coming from a humble acoustic guitar.
Support is provided by local musician and Black Winter Band frontman Paul Dunbar, who was picked out as a favourite by Jon and his manager from over 60 musicians and bands who applied for the opportunity on the official facebook event page. Liverpool-born Paul is a singer-songwriter who plays live across the UK and Europe and has supported the likes of Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Big Country, James Taylor Quartet, and Frank Turner. Described as having a signature vocal with influences of the likes of Joe Cocker, Bruce Springsteen and Otis Redding, Dunbar’s sound has a rock and soul background with dashes of folk and country.

Liverpool Acoustic is the only website of its kind in the UK. It was founded by Graham Holland in April 2008 as a central resource for the vibrant and exciting acoustic music scene in Liverpool and the Greater Merseyside area. The website publishes news from the local acoustic music scene, previews of upcoming events, reviews of music releases and gigs, and the Liverpool Acoustic Spotlight podcast. This content is available for free via email subscription. The diary lists acoustic events including festivals, theatre concerts, folk clubs, showcases and open mic nights.
