One of the best things to come out of the new-look Liverpool Acoustic website is the ability for us to showcase live reviews and music reviews in their own sections on the homepage.
To take advantage of this new layout, what we’d really like is to publish more reviews on a regular basis. But we can only do that with help, so we’re looking for budding music writers to join the team.
Being a member of the Liverpool Acoustic review team has the following money-can’t-buy (!) benefits.
your reviews published on the Liverpool Acoustic website for all the world to see (hello, World!)
your reviews posted to the Liverpool Acoustic facebook page and twitter account
your reviews emailed to the Liverpool Acoustic news and reviews mailing list
an author profile on the Liverpool Acoustic website with links to your website, facebook and twitter account
(for live reviewers) free entry to many ticketed events, gigs and concerts
(for music reviewers) advance copies of new releases
a warm, fuzzy feeling inside knowing that you’ve done your bit to help support the local music scene
In addition, as a member of the review team you’ll also have the opportunity to write other features, interviews and opinion pieces.
We’re looking for people who
have a passion for music
have a flair for writing
can write with good grammar and punctuation
can write to deadlines
are comfortable using technology (email, word processors, digital cameras, etc)
know the difference between subjective and objective, and can balance the two
If you fancy the benefits and meet the requirements then get in touch.
If you’ve been published online before then include links to some of your work. If you’ve been published in print before then attach a couple of examples to the email (or paste them into the email).
Even if you’ve never had anything published before you’re still welcome to apply if you’d like to have a go.
Send your details to email@example.com titling your email ‘Liverpool Acoustic Review Team application’ and stating what you think you could bring to the team.
Liverpool Acoustic is the only website of its kind in the UK. It was founded by Graham Holland in April 2008 as a central resource for the vibrant and exciting acoustic music scene in Liverpool and the Greater Merseyside area. The website publishes news from the local acoustic music scene, previews of upcoming events, reviews of music releases and gigs, and the Liverpool Acoustic Spotlight podcast. This content is available for free via email subscription. The diary lists acoustic events including festivals, theatre concerts, folk clubs, showcases and open mic nights.
