Cinematic Liverpool artist Paul Wilkes releases his Patterns EP on 23 November via his label, Pourtous Records.
To mark the occasion the singer songwriter, whose soulful sounds recall the lush balladry of Richard Ashcroft and Richard Hawley, will perform a highly anticipated, intimate show at Liverpool’s Lantern Theatre on Wednesday 25th November. Support comes from The Solid Air Band’s Mark Byrne.
Wilkes’ EP (read the Liverpool Acoustic review here) was self-written, produced, arranged and composed and mastered by Mike Cave (Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright, Echo and The Bunnymen). The EP serves as a beautiful taster of what is to come on his forthcoming album, primed for release in spring 2016.
The EP artwork is now the 3rd piece taken from artist, and Wilkes’ late cousin, Warren Prentice’s collection of works. The EP was recorded at Wilkes’ home studio on the Wirral featuring musicians who perform with Wilkes live.
His last EPs ‘Take The Sunlight’ released in June and ‘River Running With Me’ in January, both picked up rave reviews and radio play, including coverage from Getintothis, and BBC6 Music. Wilkes also played at Liverpool International Music Festival and Farm Fest in 2015.
Wilkes is now set to finish the year on a high with his Mellowtone,Liverpool Acoustic and Coda Maine Presents promoted show at the Lantern.
Paul said: “This is the most I have ever enjoyed releasing material; being fully in control of what songs and how I want to record them only gauges more expression from myself and hopefully inspiring the listener. I can’t wait for the gig at the Lantern so I can play songs from my new EP and songs from my back catalogue spanning over 15 years with plenty of interesting stories and ancedotes.”
