Catch Paul Wilkes at the View Two Gallery for first time in 7 years

Respected local musician Paul Wilkes returns to Mathew Street’s intimate View Two Gallery on Friday 27th March 2015 for the first time since 2008 to headline the double award-winning Liverpool Acoustic Live.

Recently seen with Chris Potter (The Verve, Blur, I Am Kloot) -produced alt rock band Wilson Minds, Wilkes has returned to his acoustic roots as a solo performer, along with a new band and a host of stunning new songs. Seven years after his still talked about 2008 View Two Gallery gig, Paul Wilkes is set for another memorable night that’s sure to be talked about seven years from now.

Paul is supported on the night by former GogMAgoG guitarist John Chatterton, and touring Finnish duo Anna & Miki.

ARTIST INFORMATION

PAUL WILKES
pourtousrecords.tumblr.com

Liverpool born singer songwriter Paul Wilkes releases his fourth EP River Running With Me on his new label Pourtous Records.

Paul spent his early twenties building up a grassroots following in the Liverpool area which led to tours supporting Joan Armatrading and Thea Gilmore, along with him being lauded by the likes of Word Magazine and Hotpress.

Paul decided he wanted to try something new and spent the last few years in an alt rock band Wilson Minds working in London with producer Chris Potter (The Verve, Blur, I Am Kloot) and musicians including Damon Minchella (Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller) and Jeff Wooten (Beady Eye, Damon Albarn).

The Wilson Minds experience provided him with plenty of high and lows, ‘almosts’ and false dawns, leaving Paul Wilkes to redefine his musical focus. Now he’s back with his brand new solo EP River Running With Me.

This release is self produced, written, arranged and composed by Paul working with some quality musicians that he has met on his travels over the years. The artwork for the EP is taken from his late cousin Warren Prentices’ collection of works which Paul intends to use as his theme for his next EP releases.

Along with this new material, he has a brand new five piece band. Paul will be gigging and growing his fan base, leading this release on to many more in the future.

Following its release in January 2015 the EP has had a positive response from the media including great reviews from Getintothis, Liverpool Sound and Vision, and Liverpool Acoustic. The leading track River Running With Me recently made Tom Robinson’s BBC6 Music ‘Fresh Faves’ and Paul has just been invited by BBC Radio Merseyside’s Spencer Leigh to join the Juke Box Jury panel on his On The Beat show on Saturday 28th March.
