10th Wirral Folk Festival – 5th to 8th June 2014

Not long now before the 10th Anniversary of the wonderful WIRRAL FOLK FESTIVAL.

It’s taking place from Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th June 2014 at Whitby Sports and Social Centre, Ellesmere Port and features its popular mix of top music acts, fringe events, and fun for all the family.

 

Artists

SALLY BARKER – a finalist in the recent BBC TV programme “The Voice” (mentored by Sir Tom Jones), is a member of the female quartet THE POOZIES, (appearing Sunday)

GREG RUSSELL & CIARAN ALGAR – have just announced that their second CD is available although the official launch date is scheduled for mid-June, (appearing Sunday)

Comedian BUZZ HAWKINS – is ‘The Voice’ of the comedic local radio family “THE BRADSHAWS” as heard on BBC Radio Merseyside’s ‘Billy Butler Show’. (Fri, Sat & Sun)

MICK GROVES – travels from the west county to join his SPINNERS mates HUGHIE JONES & COUNT JOHN McCORMICK to bring back all those 1960’s/70’s folkie memories, (Sunday)

SYKES / PRESTON duo is Show of Hands bass player MIRANDA SYKES and mandolin officienardo REX PRESTON. A wonderful act. (Sunday)

SETH LAKEMAN BAND (Saturday) & KARINE POLWART BAND (Sunday) are our top of the bill acts. Also appearing with Seth is LISBEE STAINTON.

MARTYN JOSEPH nicknamed the ‘Welsh Bruce Springsteen’ (appears Saturday)

The fantastic Wirral-based quintet – ELBOW JANE – will close the festival on Sunday evening. Beautiful instrumentation and harmonies.

 

Fringe

Over 130 ARTISTS are performing over the whole weekend. There is a very large set of FRINGE events many of which are FREE ENTRY.

Tickets

Full weekend tickets – entitle entry to all events over the 4 days. Camping on-site available (nominal charge)
All-day tickets — access from 10am until 12-30am (following day)
Afternoon tickets — 12noon to 6pm
Evening tickets — 6pm to 12-30am (following day)
Concessions for children and groups
Children under 11yrs accompanied by adult – Free admission

 

This is an ‘All-on-one-Site’ festival. The Whitby Club Members Lounge serves up wonderful food and real ale, at very reasonable prices.
