Liverpool Acoustic Live this month sees American music star Josh Harty visiting the View Two Gallery for the first time on Friday 25th October 2013.
Born in North Dakota but now living in Madison, Wisconsin, Harty has travelled the length and breadth of the USA and visited many places around the world taking with him his own special brand of American music steeped firmly in the traditions of country, blues and folk.
Also performing on the night will be local singer-songwriter Matthew McGurty who impressed the organisers of the Liverpool Acoustic Live events when he played at the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon open mic event in June. Completing the lineup is Jimmy and the Revolvers with music inspired by the eternal genius of the 1950s and 60s.

Touring across continents, Josh Harty’s unique blend of American music has become a must-hear for those who keep the tradition of country, blues and folk close to their hearts. Born and raised on the plains of North Dakota, Josh has continued the old family tradition of playing guitar. His father, both a preacher and the Police Chief of their small town, was also Harty’s music mentor.
In the past decade Josh has put out three critically acclaimed albums, while touring continuously across Europe and North America, and shows no signs of slowing down. More than just moving along, he’s spending plenty of time in the communities along the way, from Brooklyn to Haarlem, from London to Portland. Josh is always looking for that balance between the rolling road and the people who inspire him, trading stories around kitchen tables and theatre stages. Harty’s live shows prove that good story telling combined with journeyman musicianship is as American as music gets.
“There’s a tangible raw honesty evident in Josh Harty’s classy county-influenced songwriting.” R2 Magazine, UK
“An honest voice and fingers that seem to catch fire.” The Atlanta Music Guide, Atlanta GA
Matthew McGurty is a singer-songwriter from Runcorn in the North-West of England, currently based in the musical melting pot that is the city of Liverpool. Matthew has established himself as an ‘up and coming’ of the local acoustic scene and after the release of his debut EP ‘It Does’ has been wandering further a field playing the streets and venues of cities across the UK.
Matthew impressed us so much when he played at the Liverpool Acoustic Afternoon back in June that we just had to offer him a Liverpool Acoustic Live slot. We’re sure you’ll agree that we made the right choice!
JIMMY AND THE REVOLVERS
Jimmy & the Revolvers are a new four piece from Liverpool specialising in their own brand of folk music inspired by the eternal genius of the 50’s and 60’s. Expect tight harmonies, catchy melodies and a beat you can’t help but move to.
“The foursome really were just unstoppable, impulsive, dedicated and pleasing on the ear, there can be surely no better way of spending time in the hot weather than with a group so in tune with each other” – Liverpool Sound & Vision, July 2013
